Difficulties with seriousness!

11 posts in this topic

Before I entering this spiritual realm, I liked to be very serious about life.

People often told me I was a little bit pretentious because I took things serious.

But I had no problems with people slightly mocking me, I just enjoy being serious because life is serious matters I thought.

I was very much at ease, because I was alined with my personality type.

I discussed politics, climate changes, society issues, work issues, in a very mature and serious way.

Loved to have the self image of the responsible serious guy.

However during my spiritual journey I started to feel pathetic being so serious and responsible since everything is an illusion, everything is maya, a dream.

I started to attack myself, calling myself a pathetic "save the world" type of ego.

I become satirical and silly instead, but that only backfire, since I went against my configuration so to speak.

I like to be the responsible leader kind of type who are serious.

Lately I said to my self that I can allow my self to be serious, because I can view it just like a game or a play, and since everything is a game so to speak, I'm not more pathetic then anyone else.

Please help me how to have a good mindset so that I can be just as serious and enjoy it just as much even though I know there is no "real" reality.

How to take the game of maya serious so to speak without feeling pathetic? Since this is my configuration and the one that I am meant to be.

Thanks,

Namaste.

equilibrium.

took your ego life as serious as you took your spiritual life.

I understand "ego problems" are SO INSIGNIFICANT when you achieve enlightenment that you find yourself silly for giving attention to it when you do.

But remember, this thing you call silly are programmed INSIDE YOUR BODY, your mindset is PHYSICAL, and you use this body to live your ego live.

And its important to your ego to keep your ego life as much as its important to your conscious to keep it away

find a balance between those 2 and "talk to yourself" so you can "both" agree in  how you deal with your life

I don't think calling yourself pathetic or negative self talk has anything to do with spirituality. I think it can be a subtle belief like thinking you are defective or damaged, or something is wrong with you, or you need to live up to idealistic spiritual ideals. You might want to look into your inner issues more than spiritually for that.

@Saumaya in my experience that’s what this forum leads to assuming that if you care about or are enjoying life you’re doing something wrong

These beliefs like I am doing something wrong or something is wrong with me are what I am taking about. You can't do something wrong neither can someone be inherently wrong. To know that the life that you are leading is not upto your expectations, you try to improve it. That's all. As jed McKenna says, the belief that something is wrong is the fire under people's ass that people run on.

@MarkusSweden The idea that life has to be either serious or playful is a false duality.

Living a serious life, trying to accomplish things is the greatest folly.
That is because ultimately you will die, and everything you accomplish will turn to ashes.

Living a playful life, trying to have fun is the most serious matter.
The best games are the ones in which you play with fire and the stake is your precious life.

It doesn't matter whether you are serious, or playful, as long as you understand that one is the other side of the other.
The key to this realization is totality. Being playful about seriousness and being serious about playfulness.

You don’t want to be serious. You are a Swede and that’s a part of your personality to be serious. Its a part of your comfort zone.

Let go of that shit. Go and travel (NOT EU or USA) and see how relaxed people can be. Learn from them.
