Yoga confusion

4 posts in this topic

Is yoga like working out every exercise has it own purpose and for each goal and progress from easy to hard can you mess up somehow like in working out that leads to injury? Mixing techniques not knowing what you doing etc..

There is nothing safe with playing it safe.

Yoga is not an exercise. It's like a dinamic meditation that ultimately leads to enlightenment or union with the existence.

It's a sutle science of working with life energies or Prana or Chi. If performed irresponsibly you can destroy your life but if performed correctly you can become super human.

Like ectricity, for example, you can have so many benefits from electricity, but if you stick your fingers were you're not suppossed to. You can die.

I simply am. You simply are. We are The Same One forever. Let us join in Glory.

There are techniques which in you hardly can do anything wrong that I would recommend if you are starting out alone (for example Upa Yoga from Sadhguru).

On more advanced techniques there is always a chance that you can do it wrong and delude yourself. This may lead into the case to loose motivation or don'T make any progress or in some cases even in harming your body. So it is often a good advice to carefully choose a good teacher.

Finally if you are serious than remember that Yoga is way more than just twisting and bending your body. Today's western Yoga practices are often dissected down to just a body training activity.

The 8 limbs of Yoga by the Yoga-Sutra outlines this concept very good.

For example:

Eight Limbs of Yoga

No. Yoga comes naturally after awakening, no need to learn it.

The modern yoga has little to do with real yoga.
