Fears, Anxiety and Spiral Dynamics

I wasn't entirely sure where to post this (my first post actually) so my apologies if its in the wrong section, but I do have a qestion.

What role do fears, and anxiety play and when it comes to Spiral Dynamics? In other words, do they determine your stage of consciousness? What I've noticed from personal experience is that I may want to carry out an act a certain way, but result to my first impulse and react out of fear.

How does this tie into Spiral Dynamics?

For example. Lets say you're in a argument with someone and end up getting triggered and react in red. You're aware that you may want to take the green approach but your own internal fears make you react more red.

Can you have higher levels of consciousness but be depressed, anxious, have addictions, PTSD etc. which prevent you from living life in a way it matches your level consciousness?

Not sure how else to phrase my question, but I think y'all know what I'm getting at.

Every stage has its own favorite fears. No stage is free of fear. Freeing yourself of fear is only possible with lots of enlightenment.

If you are in an angry, fearful, or threatened state, you will drop a stage or two from your typical baseline.

For example, if an Orange-Green country experiences a terrorist attack, it's likely to regress to Blue for a while.

If every stage has its own set of fears couldn't one determine their stage based on their own fears? Sounds like another way to go about it.

That's why they feed him 2 scoops of ice cream at dinner while everyone else gets 1 scoop

P.S. The ice cream is orange-flavored with chunks of strawberry, to keep his color up.
