A chilling quote by Charles Manson

Quote

"If everything is one, then nothing is wrong." - Charles Manson

Disclaimer: I'm not making claims that Charles Manson is enlightened. Just to get that out there to start... I also want to preface I don't know really much about Charles Manson.

I did find this quote interesting though because I think it's a perfect illustration on zen devilry.

And the dharma is part of the one.

Thought trying to rationalize its own fragmented movement as being whole.

The Contradiction, the confusion, the conflict, expressed in, and as fear-violence.

Such actions taken are not the result of wholeness, but rather the action of one who is alienated, or sees themselves as an isolated entity. Action born of duality.

Or the incapablity to put thought in its right place.

Or just a result of DNA and conditioning? :)

@cirkussmile

Sure:)

Thought is conditioned. DNA could have an influence indeed. Thought being a material process and all would make that a possiblity. And thought is conditioned by the past.  There’s the personal and collective conditioning, personal being ‘his’ direct experiences, and collective being egos reaction to society and so on. And what he had accumulated psychologically through that stream of thought.

I don’t know for sure, I would have had to talk with him more. Lol

Of course

And so what?

You are God. You are Truth. You are Love. You are Infinity.

It’s one thing to think everything is one.  It’s another thing to embody that.  Anybody can say anything.  Embodiment is different.

Yeah that’s more my point. From an absolute sense, the quote is accurate.

What im saying is how a person (enlightened or not) can use that as an excuse to harm others and just rationalize all that away.

This was the video I got this quote from by the way

That quote is accurate even from a relative perspective.

Obviously "wrong" is relative to one's ego.

You are God. You are Truth. You are Love. You are Infinity.

What I would say to Charles is that by the same logic it's also not wrong to prosecute. Also it's not wrong to call things wrong.

If everything is one, why use a word that implies duality in the first place?

"Everything is one, so lets talk about that which isn't." It makes no sense.

Even if everything was not one, nothing would still be wrong.

You don't need to be in a nondual state to see that even within duality, nothing's wrong.

You are God. You are Truth. You are Love. You are Infinity.
