Why?

Why Develop Yourself

8 posts in this topic

I know this is just my human rational mind, but this question has been seriously making me depressed and bothering me for over 1 month. I am a Year 10 student and have been doing inner growth for a long time, with by product of inner growth being A+ in subjects and academic achievements. I have also been happy and independent, and have physically developed the body. However, I started asking the why about things. I know that there is no actual point to life and we make a purpose from our human rational minds, and I know there is self-transcendence and enlightenment, but I just need to find a really awesome reason why I should keep expanding.

I will appreciate your replies.

From the Human Rational Mind.

That feeling of you being depressed is a key reason to be developing yourself, that's an emotion we develop ourselves to outgrow, that ego that's bringing you down and saying things are pointless, and that life is pointless although that may be true, the thought itself is pointless if you think about it and that thought is what's giving you negative emotions, your whole entire life you've been chasing emotions and feelings. So the depression you feel is exactly what you'll get because you currently believe life is pointless.

In this video there's a key insight about how your attitude towards life is exactly what you'll get in life, and this isn't a bad thing, this is a powerful thing. very counter intuitive though because it's hard for the ego to understand and accept because the ego has a need for purpose. And the ego doesn't like hearing that it's useless.

Perhaps you could take what you've learned and are learning and use it to benefit others. Teach others. It gives a "sense of purpose" and helps one to feel better about the whole "pointless" idea of life. In other words, if we're going to be here a while, why not create purpose and make it worthwhile rather than waiting it out?

Thank you people. Really appreciate the help and I am open to ideas and suggestions. I have been searching my general and specific purpose for a long time. However, I've only found one real purpose to far; to keep expanding. Nevertheless, thank you for the video and your thoughts about this topic.

@Why? is it possibly enough to practice self development just (??) in order to learn how to acknowlegde, appreciate and enjoy ourself in the present moment.. whatever happens in our life situation ?? For me it is worth :)

Maybe even better will flourish out of that ??

@Why? Don't search for ONE reason. Make a whole list of them. They're called values.

Here are mine :

- Consciousness

- Contribution

- Peace Of Mind

- Connection

- Ambition

- Creativity

- Personal Growth

- Excellence

- Honesty

- Independance

This is nihilism.  It's the opposite to mental and spiritual health.

Herein lies the danger of making philosophical concepts into a belief system.

The healthy way to think at "meaninglessness" which promotes growth: an object can be viewed in a number of different ways - therefore the object in itself has no inherent meaning.

It does not mean that life is "pointless"
