Should we eliminate Grain's from our diet?

If yes, why?

If no, why?

Substitute regular grains for wholegrains: quinoa, buckwheat, oats (gluten free) millet, wild rice + other

Why? :

1. if you look at it, we hardly ever consume grains in their natural state, we process them bake them and make pastry out of them or pasta. A food that is like glue to your intestines. A typical white bread has no nutritional value besides a lot of starch that spikes your insulin levels a same way as the guy who just kicked his toe on a coffee table.

2. A lot of people are also intolerant to a protein in wheat, barley and rye called gluten that is a cause of Celiac's disease and potentially a cause of some autoimmune conditions and systemic body inflammations and acne.

Should you eliminate it instantly?

See how your body reacts to it. Does it make you lethargic, sleepy? It sure does for me. How do you feel after you've had a toast with jam for breakfast. Test it out and see. And than try to have buckwheat for breakfast with fruit and see how you feel with that. Your body gives you all answers simply listen to it :)

Good point to listen to the body.

When we talk about excluding food we seem to think of the long term effects.

I would say forget about long term effects and if it's healthy or not. Only go after how you feel now and it will be clear what to eat and what not to eat.

Nothing will happen if you eat "bad" food except the feeling it gives you. Be aware and then right choice will be made for you!

perhaps I misunderstood the message but if I was eating what feels right in the moment, I'd pretty much be stuffing myself with junk food because that tastes the best.

Lack of long term awareness of what you eat usually ends up in heart disease or cancer.....did I overreact to your comment? :D

It tastes the best, I can agree on that!

I hope people are here for self realization and then you must be aware all the time, not just when eating. So we can enjoy all the crappy food but then we have to be aware on how it makes us feel.

That makes us aware of every action. Yes, the food tastes good but is it worth the feeling I get after?

Awareness alone will solve this dilemma and in the end we stop eating things that takes our energy :)

What feels and is good for you now is what's good in the future ??

@Michael569

This is also why pets get diseases and sick and die prematurely because for example (cats & dogs) are 100% carnivores by nature and evolved that way and require raw meat for optimal health but we feed them pet food which is (cooked) poor quality meat and canned junk(thus lacking enzymes for assimilation) and dry food (grainy/sugary) shit not meant for them in the first place.

@pluto I tried the raw meat diet with my dogs, they got sick. Probably my fault for starting their life off on shit dog kibble.

I have looked at organic high quality dog kibble but it's so expensive!!

You have to start off slow if they been on cooked/pet stuff do like half half then more and more until eventually its 100%. Local butcher should have quality grass fed meat and raw bone and stuff like that saves money than buying the pre-made organic raw stuff for pets. You can also make your own kibble with a food processor and healthy ingredients of choice :)

@Michael569  @pluto Have you (you probably have) heard of Sprouted grains? I've read it's much better for you. What's your take on this?

I'm doing a lot of research into grains.

@pluto Yeah I'll definitely give that a try. Thanks dude ♥️

Most welcome and here is benefits of sprouted http://www.sproutnet.com/Sprouts-for-Optimum-Nutrition

When something sprouts it has all the nutrients available to be grown into a plant or tree so it is now in its most bio-available form for us or anything for that matter to consume/absorb :)

Sprouting is incredible.  You can sprout beans, lentils, chickpeas, sunflower seeds, chia seeds, buckwheat, quinoa and many other. The plant gets activated and the living force inside of it goes out. All the anti-nutrients are broken and the digestability of the plant skyrockets. Things like sprouts and ripe fruits are highest frequency fruits.

A word of caution though: make sure you consume any sprouts within 4-5 days as they germinate and could cause you a poisoning if stored for too long. I poisoned myself from sprouted lentils not long ago :D. The easiest ones to start with are sunflower seeds or mung beans.

@pluto Thanks for that Pluto. Most helpful ^_^

@Michael569 Thanks for your reply. I couldn't help laugh at the fact you poisoned yourself xD:ph34r: I'm not actually looking to do the whole sprouting process myself although I won't right off for the future but looking to purchase Sprouted foods and grains for the time being.

I'm unsure though wether to just go totally gluten free. @Outer I don't have celiac's disease but the more research I do into grains the more I'm leaning away from them naturally.

I cut wheat completely and try to avoid it at all cost, but stuff like buckwheat, amaranth, teff, oats etc. doesn't upset my stomach as much so I still have it from time to time.

Find what works for you, everyone reacts differently to grains.

@Max_V  I've heard a lot of grains cause many medical issues, depression, cancer, diabetes etc so I'm also trying to cut them completely. Although the organic oats I'm eating don't seem to be doing me any harm.

I ate something yesterday that contained lots of wheat and I felt exhausted afterwards, very lethargic so I'll be definitely avoiding foods like the one I consumed.

There is also a potential link between gluten and autoimmune diseases such as lupus, RA, MS and many many other. But the literature seems to be quite contradictory...
