What Is The Best Way To Spend My free-time?

What is the best way to spend my free-time?

And how much time should i spend on what area to get the best personal growth results?

A week has 7 x 24h = 168h

Say i work 40h/week (i guess most of us do or will in the future, unless you become a monk)

and let´s also say i sleep 7h/day on average (workday maybe only 6 and weekdend sometimes 10)  = 49h/ week

lets say for making food/driving around/ cleaning appartment/ shopping/ showering (basics) i take 2h/day = 14h/week

168-40-49-14 = 65h

So in Theory i should have 65h per Week... 

How can one spend that time the most efficent?

How much time for sports? 

How much time for meditation?

How much time for reading?

How much time for working on ideas?

Your life is going to be a total drag if you try to formulate it like this(imo).

State your goals and desires, and go with the flow man.

@Falk Don't think in terms of schedule. Think in terms of results. You can adjust your schedule to fit around any results you're determined to get.

For example. Pick a book to read each month. Then figure out how to work it into your routine so you can finish it in a month.

For example. You want to develop a meditation habit. Do some research and figure out the best way to get started. Usually 10-20 mins a day, and work that into your routine.

Make time for self-care. Work and sleep isn't all self-care. Make your bed in the morning. Eat right. Clean your place. If you can't get a handle on taking care of yourself, you'll likely have a hard time having consistency and success with other tasks.

Work on building a routine that allows you to thrive, not something that's day-to-day maintenance. This could be how you do your morning routine to setup the rest of the day, how you eat, the people you hang out with, a hobby that you're passionate about, something rejuvenating that recharges your batteries, etc. It's different for everyone. You have to experiment and find what works best for you.

Get Eben Pagan - Seeds of Success program. It gives you good ideas what to implement in your life. He made various programs how to achive success in different areas, but here he talks more like his own 20y old experience studying this stuff in placing it in one compact package.

Thx. Yeah but i think instead of saying: i wanna read "a" book each month (book can have 100pages , can have 500 pages) i tried , and now i find it better/ works better for me to say...on 3 evenings in the week i take myself 1h to read. I think it is big goal "a book/month" vs direct small but directly messurable goal with termination: mo /we/ fr evening 1h reading... taking small steps consistently works out pretty good...i usually do my reading routine and with seemingly no effort i look back some month and can go : cool, i read 3 books !

Cleaning/making bed is basic stuff i already includuded, im not at that stage anymore, im looking for smth more advanced here xD 

Also i meditate 1h every day consistently, and i guess you´re right ..with doing what works best will be right , just was asking for some inputs here :) 

Maybe something positive YOU guys do everyday that you find improoves your lifes ...

@Natura Sonoris i checked eben pagan and just wanted to ask if you did any of his programs and is it worth it? i mean 300-500bucks ^^ sometimes i feel those programs promise you the world (become a millionair etc) with only ...30 min work per week ^^ ( i get a bit wary when i read stuff like that xD

@Falk You calculate as much as I do, haha :D but believe me this will backfire on you and eventually leads to OCD behavior some day. So please stop.

I try to be flexible from Monday till Friday when it comes to things I can't integrate  into a plan. My boyfriend is really spontaneous aswell. I also have fixed routines like running on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday (sometimes Sunday) or meditating in the morning after my breakfast. Self-actualization has a high priority in my life that's why I spend nearly the whole Sunday writing my journal, watching Leo's latest video, doing yoga, meditation and everything what feels beneficial to me. 

I sometimes exaggerate with setting up plans and schedules and it freaks me out if I can't complete them. That's why I don't recommend it to you. ;) Set priorities and include those things in your routines. Take your time.

Yes it takes some time to let a simple action evolve into a routine. Had the same struggle with meditating in the morning. I set my alarm 30 minutes earlier than usual. What was the reaction of my mind/body? This: "Nooooo, come on. Let's continue to sleep, you can meditate in the evening." Bla bla bla, comfort zone. :P I didn't give up and now it's a daily routine. B|

Wow that's impressive! O.o I couldn't imagine to do the same, but I guess my "sports-behavior" is quite similar. I walk so much, go for a run and use the bike so often... my app never stops counting new kilometers.

what does all this have to do with self realization, or does that have anything to do with your question, in the event that your question is related to self realization, then devote all your time to being silent, and if you have such a busy schedule that you cant spend that time in silence then the consequences of life will be your teacher.

@Falk LOL nobody really answered your question yet. Jerks ;) I'll be the first then.

  • Meditation (2 separate hours)
  • Outside walk (1 hour)
  • While you walk, spend the first 30 minutes trying to be mindful of your five senses.
  • Spend the other 30 minutes talking to yourself about who you want to become in life.
  • Creating something meaningful to you (2 hours)
  • Enlightenment work (1 hour)
  • Reading about personal development subjects (1 hour)
  • Journaling about who you want to become in life (1 hour)
This is all an average. And if you only have 6 hours free on a work day, then forget the last two items. You can catch up with them on your days off.
And take the rest of your time to do whatever you want, you'll deserve it.

may i ask you a question, when you finish that 700 pages how much will you have learned about yourself?

I let you know, but I am reading the page 60 Lol....

And I don't know if I learned about myself, but I am going to apply some of the principles I found there. The book is about Steve Jobs.

Cool :) that was what i was looking for, some nice ideas for me and a good recommendation of what some of YOU guys do. 

i already thought about increasing my medi time from 1h to 2h 

also focusing on my senses on walks is a nice idea ..i will try that , i already walk 30ish min /day but usually only stand and watch when i see smth amazing.

creating sometihng meaningful ... also a good idea ..i was planning on painting and making music more anyways

..so jeah, i appreciate it.

@abrakamowse 100pages is good, im a slow reader thou (not native tongue) so i have to write down vocabulary as well and usually do 20pages a day but im happy with that right now

@Anna calculation is good xD i know i wont overdo it ..no worries ^^ it is just nice to have a framework , i also can relate to what you wrote about the medi morning routine ^^ right now i usualy go ...wtf? 6o clock? nah!! i will do it in the evening xD tomorrow i will make it in the morning!

@Falk My routine:

Wake up - 15 minute visualisation  - the reason I do this as soon as I wake is because my brain is in naturally in theta and is the most receptive to new ideas

25 minute integral "3 body workout"

20 minutes sitting - I have never increased my meditation sitting time because I practice mindfulness during the day

20 minutes cardio  - again, no need to increase the time as I just increase the gradation on the machines

My day job

15 minutes evening shadow journaling

1 hour blogging / study

20 minute sitting

20 minute visualisation

Sleep.

On my 2 days off I disengage and party :)

The best way to spend your free time is doing what you love and working towards something.

Think about the things you have fun with and enjoy doing. Also there must be some sort of ambition or dream you have. Why not figure out what it's going to take to get there and then work on it.

Of course, if what you are really asking is how to be more productive and manage time more efficiently, that is a different question altogether.

I'm struggling with time management myself, but the basic idea for managing time is to journal what you spend your time on every single day. Log the things that you're doing from the time you wake up till the time you go to sleep. That way you can track how much of your time you are spending on any activity. Then you can visually see exactly where you waste the most time doing unproductive shit. Then work on cutting that out and spend the time actually doing something productive.

yes! very good idea, i wanted to start journaling my time but until now i always thought : nah to much effort (even thou it actually isnt) i think i will give it a try , maybe im supprised by the result...

 

@Nomad the 3 body work-out seems to be a cool addition to my morning routine ...i will try the 10min version of it , thx :)
