I am an addict!

8 posts in this topic

I just wanted to make a quick post here to reach out and share that I finally acknowledged that I am an addict. It is something that I have always known but chose not to pay attention to. Don't let people in your life help you make justifications for doing drugs of any sorts (alcohol included) if you genuinely wish to lead a sober life. Be aware of your words and the purpose behind them as you consume whatever it is that gets you off. There is help out there in connecting with fellow addicts who have learned sobriety. Just for today my friends.

It is honorable and empowering to become free of any addiction. Keep up the good work.

The chains of addiction are not tied to your body but to your spirit, therefore it is of most importance to free yourself from addictions that bind you. When you die your body will dissolve but your spirit will be forever, you will be forever. If you are to move on to higher dimensions after your earthly life comes to an end you must break all chains or else you will be unable to move on and evolve or even find peace.

There are a few tales of souls who could not leave their addictions behind even after death, they got stuck on earth in the afterlife and slowly turned into parasites, dark specters who only wished to fuel their addiction and leeched on to still living humans to fullfill their needs through them. Also there are tales of souls who after death went to places that were according to their addictions and dwelled there, only endulging in their addictions for very long times like in a prison where every day it's the same place with the same things. Most people just get reborn again after a while here on earth because they cannot let go of their addictions and need to live again to resolve them or endulge in them again.

The problem is that even though a lot of people will not accept it, you keep your individuality after death...you will still be an individual spirit out there in the higher dimensions. This is why you must work so hard on your spirit, your mind, your willpower, your thoughts etc etc during this lifetime and cultivate a superb character free of as many flaws and addictions as possible. It will make your afterlife much easier and more free. No attachments. When your body is gone all you have is your spirit, your values, your willpower, your love. Those are your real assets, not material and not body.

People like to take the lazy way out with all kinds of excuses to not do the work here but unless you achieve a super-enlightenment and dissolve your identity completely (don't confuse this with the regular enlightenment that everyone is talking about) you will still be you and you will create a reality in the afterlife that reflects the state of your spirit, which can be heaven or hell.

I congratulate you for doing a first step but this is not the end. Throw away the chains of the mundane.

@Otogi Thank your for this perspective! I am dedicating to attend meetings every day for the first 90 days as they recommend. I'm blessed to have the support I have from family and am determined to improve my situation. It's funny to finally see through the false images I had and to see myself as I now do. I spent many hours crying because I was sad that I could do this to myself. I never wanted this for myself and yet I did otherwise I wouldn't be here now. If I did this to myself I cannot even image what I have done to others. But that will be for another day I am sure.

@egoeimai Research and find local groups you can attend if you feel you don't need rehab or extreme intervention. My advice would be to just go in with no expectation of what it should be. Some advice I received from another member was to not base how I perceive it off of my first few meetings as well.
