Explaining Complex Ideas

6 posts in this topic

@LeoGura has spent a lot of time studying how to explain complex ideas into understandable language that almost anyone can comprehend.

He uses big picture examples, personal examples, analogies, day to day examples, visualizations, and a few other techniques to get his point across. This makes him a powerful orator.

My question for all of you is, what else could one do in order to convey a complex idea into a simplified version?

What i mean is, what if i have a big picture concept, like self actualization, and i want to narrow it down for a specific niche?

Does anyone have any examples of how this could be done? Or books/links?

Thanks in advance

Could use non-verbal techniques. Art. Games. Leading people through the direct experience, somehow.

Leo's words work extremely well for us conceptual people, but I get the feeling that there's so many people out there who won't listen or read about beauty or self-actualization, but they can tell a beautiful scenery and they will try to be their best self.

What's your massege and who's your target audience?

I think brain simplifies and conceptualizes things by itself. You just need to put what you are trying to explain in front of your attention and contemplate on it. Analogies, pictures and phrases just appear.

@Sahil Pandit Start a new charity drive, “Stop running and Start Actually Running!” Or get “Trackualized!”  or something more catchy and clever.  Raise awareness raising money helping people while raising money raising awareness. You can work the details out.

The mental horsepower of the person on the receiving end, their environment up to that point in their lives, genetic hard-wiring of their brain, etc, etc are all very powerful factors to consider. Some subjects are simply too complicated for less intelligent or biased people. Remember that the average IQ is 100. That means half the population has an IQ below 100.
