Current Events

I imagine most of the people active in this forum don't watch a ton of evening news. 

How do you all go about keeping up with current events? What are some good sources, ideally for a quick recap of all of the most (relatively) important stories, ideally as unbiased as possible. 

Or have you all already moved into a nice cave dwelling and no longer worry about such things (if so I'm envious).

What stories do you find important? What events?

You will know when something big or important happens when you talk to friends and family. Mostly I let them do the news checking and most often I never hear anything important. Sometimes I read headlines but I haven't seen anything chocking or important in a long time ?

I don't have a TV and usually listen to the midday radio news (15 minutes on National Radio - Public station here in New Zealand). I find not having TV helps not getting involved in the drama.

all of them, or really any sources that give the best big picture understanding of what is going on with humanity, globally 

i suppose such knowledge would require deep research rather than passive absorbing of YouTube videos 

perhaps a magazine subscription or two ?
