Animals: Let's Dedicate a Tribute

9 posts in this topic

In our busy modern lives, it’s easy to forget we share this planet with over 5,000 mammalian species of life.  Not everybody realizes this, but each one of them wants to be happy and avoid suffering just as we do.

We live in a world filled with selfishness, hate, exploitation, and greed, but every once in a while, we come across a friend, a friend that reminds us of the love and freedom we’ve missed since childhood.  Sometimes, the friendship formed can even transcend the barriers of language and biological similarity.

Let’s talk about the animals in our lives.  If you don’t have one, that’s okay; just talk about the animals you have or are fascinated by.

Personally, I find the very fact that we can form close bonds with other species speaks to a much deeper underlying truth.

@WildeChilde love your post. I live for animals, there welfare is probably one of the most important things to me.

There too underestimated, too overlooked.

Both fascinated by lions and hippo's. If i could reincarnate i would probably choose to reincarnate as a hippo. Don't ask me why, i can watch hippo's eat and swim for hours when i'm at the zoo.

@Psyche_92 That's great man.  Africa has some of the most interesting wildlife on the planet.

I'm a fan of horses myself; you haven't lived until you've ridden one of these suckers at full gallop.

They are really magnificent creatures in a way; they even have a wide range of readable facial expressions just like ours.

Amazing thread!

I never liked animals until I started to self actualize. I don't cuddle so much with animals I see but I do respect them; they can teach us so much!

I'm only eating plants and my gf like cats so we will have them around when we go back to South America.

One cool thing about South America are all the street dogs. They love to hang around with you and even if they missing legs and eyes they don't seem depressed. I surely believe that street dogs are happier than the dogs living in apartments here in Europe!

@WildeChilde  I have a melanistic (all black) Bengal/Siamese cat (mini panther) that I adore. I also have a German Shepherd dog that I love very much too....there are lots of ravens, deer, woodpeckers, salamanders, etc and sometimes bear and cougars that live all around me in the forest too.... I did a spirit animal meditation and got a chameleon... I really like narwhals for some reason....  and butterflies/ dragonflies are always so magical.... I honour them all as nature, so much closer than I am....with great joy and respect... especially cuddly snuggly kitties :)
