Many persons in India teach about enlightenment but I don't think that enlightened human-being a common thing even in India. I know many people with psychic abilities in my state but they never claimed enlightenment.

do people there discuss enlightenment at all?

A large number of people believe that enlightenment can be achieved but a common Indian don't discuss enlightenment at all. Only few Indians are interested in seeking enlightenment, may be more than all other countries of the world combined.

He who knows, does not speak. He who speaks, does not know.

Maybe there are one in every 1000km

Iam 27 and most in my circle speaks about spirituality and psychic things. But are in materialistic paradigm. We are chained by society with taking care of parents (coz they took care of us while growing up) marriage children and  politics. This sums up average indian and then there thousand who break the chains.

There are millions in India who worship God , devtas (higher souls) , idols and pictures but that prayer is asking for something, demanding, complaining: you have desires and God can help you to fulfill them.

Listen Folks, I am from India.

We have people of many religion here.

Chiefly - Hindu, Muslim, Sikh, Jain.

Now, from my understanding every religion follow a certain type of yoga naturally but they exactly dont know why they are worshipping, most people worhsip to avoid hell and being in heaven or to get their desires fullfilled.

Hindu - They pray to various gods, visit temple every week and pray. They pray to please god, for meeting their desire, etc.

Muslim - They go to mosque and pray 5 times a day. They pray for duty, desires, etc

Sikh - They visit gurudhara and pray, also like to serve community, feed people alot. Karma Yoga.

Jain - idk much about them other than they have strict diet rules, veg and no garlic and onion.

But, hardly anyone specially in the capital of India, New Delhi, where I live have much understanding of "Enlightenment" but almost everyone is religious and hold the image of their respected god in a high place and importance.

You guys here are more enlightened than them. ?

What i see here(my place) is taking enlightenment intellectually or philosophically. And for many yogis are the ones who ran away from problems.

some people do it to please god, some do it for their own desires, some do it for love, some do it to celebrate, some do it for fun but hardly anyone does it for enlightenment.
