Is Unchanging Wisdom Egoic

4 posts in this topic

This is the kind of ideology that we're very accustomed to.  This is Science, Metaphysics, Philosophy, Religion.  This is the seeking for unchanging wisdom, or beliefs that are context-independent -- true across space and time.

@Joseph Maynor Definitely. Unchanging wisdom is never true wisdom. True wisdom is always complicated and quite dynamic when put in words. Static truths and wisdoms remind me of religions.

And plus, you need to take into account the nature of language. It’s very rare to phrase a truth so easily, because the words you use to explain them are themselves very inaccurate.

"Not believing your own thoughts, you’re free from the primal desire: the thought that reality should be different than it is. You realise the wordless, the unthinkable. You understand that any mystery is only what you yourself have created. In fact, there’s no mystery. Everything is as clear as day. It’s simple, because there really isn’t anything. There’s only the story appearing now. And not even that.” — Byron Katie

@Joseph Maynor  Is there really any changeless wisdom, except within some dogmatic ideologue mindset. The scientific paradigm constantly evolves and changes. After all, once the earth was the center of the cosmos, and heretics were burned at the stake for denying this.  And it will evolve yet again, if the primacy of consciousness usurps materialism. Metaphysics and philosophy, inherently speculative, are no exception. Even religions, with their endless sects and denominations, have changed dramatically from what was originally intended and  taught -- now greatly distorted, and misinterpreted. Really, all such models and maps are only ever going to be, at best, true enough under the circumstances.

@Joseph Maynor Any unchanging wisdom is a path. You can look at your feet, or you can look at the trees. The first will guide, the other will amaze.

Bearing with the conditioned in gentleness, fording the river with resolution, not neglecting what is distant, not regarding one's companions; thus one may manage to walk in the middle. H11L2
