Jim Carrey good for our mass adoption of enlightenment?

34 posts in this topic

I love Jim, his early movies are pieces of art! The pet detector in action is hilarious. :)

He seem to be smart and friendly. I saw an old episode with Charlie Rose. Rose went home to Jim, and they had such a good meeting, such an inspiration. Jim told rose how love was the only possibility if two people are open with each other. Thats true!

I love that enlightenment not only gain reputation from gurus around the world, preaching for those who already buy the message.

With Jim it's different. People might be interested and look into it. Not having anything to do with the spiritual journey before. More celebrities should advocate enlightenment. Well, Operah does, but it's more like her guests, not her really.

However, as much as I loved him as a comic actor, as sceptical am I of him as a famous model of enlightenment.

It's like he's too hysterical. Too much of that "No Jim Carrey exist"-non sense, even though he's right, he turning it into a weird event or something. Enlightenment is not a stage kind of freak show or laughter.

To me, enlightenment is about deep deep feelings of impersonal consciousness!

It's impersonal consciousness going full circle to become fully intimate and deeply personal on an existential level. It's peace, like blissful peace, so quiet, so long from Hollywood and glamour.

So, is this beloved and intelligent man right for us!??

I'm not sure, it might harm the mass adoption of enlightenment by normies in the years to come.. 2020-2030

What do you think guys?

@Shin Lol, that picture says it all!

That's the picture of an enlightened face! :)

Haha, all those self absorbed and egotistical characters he made over the years make it kind of funny to think about!

It will just go over the normie's head. Always has, always will.

The problem isn't Jim Carey, the problem is being a normie.

I know, funny anyway I think!

Imagine a big marketing campaign over Europe and US.

The first big marketing campaign ever for mass adoption of enlightenment.

Imagine that face to be synonymous with the enlightenment campaign! :)

LOL

If I could wish anything you said, to be wrong, this is it!

God, we can't have that pessimistic outlook! :)

Remember, we are in a consumering and egotistical era. Therefore the spread of enlightenment is slower then what is about to be in the future.

God has to experience himself that way, all the social media, all the self absorb non sense people do is really God's way to figure out he don't want it.

Next era might be an altruistic experiment. And when that experiment is full blown in society, we grab God by his own balls.

Psychedelics in tap water and Jim Carrey posters everywhere! :)

And a never ending tour for Leo.

But seriously though, this is not only a joke, humans must evolved and it's always a back and forth thing between ego culture and more altruistic cultures. Eventually we can be fully enlightened as human species!

Don't you think it will be possible?

Well, 2500 years has passed (5000 if you include Egypt) and where we at with that?

We got Trump for president and 35% of the population who thinks he's moving society forward.

The rest are addicted to food, alcohol, porn, Facebook, TV, and money. The technological addictions will only get worse with time.

This new generation of millennials will be utterly unable to meditate or concentrate.

We got a real Matrix situation brewing.

And most people don't appreciate how close the world is to nuclear annihilation.

What or who is a normie Leo?  Why assume Enlightenment goes over the normie’s head?  This sounds kinda elitist.  Correct me if I’m wrong please.

@Joseph Maynor

Most people would never even consider the possibility that they could be something other than their cluster of thoughts/feelings/sensations and really inquire into it honestly. It took me like 3-4 years just to educate myself and get my head around what Enlightenment is and the radical possibilities conceptually. And I still feel I'm just getting started to understand. But the good news is, the more educated I become the stronger my resolve grows for this work. So the hundreds of hours of listening to Leo and others, reading at least a dozen books on Enlightenment for 4-5 years wasn't a waste. And yet I could be understanding wrong and deluding myself :P

Tell me how many people will actually keep up this wild goose chase for 4-5 years just to get some 'knowledge' which isn't really bringing you any gains right now.

Most people want 'immediate relief' and modern society has done very good job providing it. When you're living in a self-actualizing bubble, its very easy to forget what most people are into.

But the good news is, the more chimp the society becomes, the more suffering there is which is kinda forcing more and more people to wake the fuck up

I never said anything about Jim :P

I was sharing my opinion on how most people aren't really interested in this work.

We have all these ideas about Enlightennent that turn into limiting beliefs and fears.

so true!!

in this sense its the toughest work there is. you're actually turning back and challenging the very thing/ego thats been keeping you 'alive'..willing to dismantle yourself piece by piece..and you dont really know whats on the other side

who really wants to do that unless you got at least a little doze of 'crazyness' inside you to begin with haha

@MarkusSweden I think I’m hearing you on this Jim and where the world’s at. Like, you’re talking about him as a marker relative to the population median with suffering..? Personally, I have always loved Jim. I was a serious kid, teen, young adult - and I felt the authenticism in Jim’s goofiness even though I didn’t comprehend it. To me, just where I’m at, he’s leading, by too much. People need to let go, suffer less - get from 100 down to like 70....Jim’s at 0 and he’s loving it. I love to see him loving life.

And the problems of the world; to me it’s like playing a video game. We like the excitement and drama, until it’s a little too much, and we’re a little too disconnected.  So, then,  we can take a break from it, meditate etc.

This is life, and death. Experience, and contemplation / integration.

Self-acceptance was what drove me to Enlightenment.  I realized that traditional Self Help was not working for me.  Then I figured out that the work I needed to be doing is clearing all the garbage off my Sun so it could shine brightly and fully.  And I’ve been doing that work for 4 years now.  I started watching Leo’s videos in 2014.  My Sun is getting its color back now, waiting to shine fully as part of what’s here.  But there is work yet to be done.  Mostly work dismantling attachments to Ego.  Getting of the teet of those patterns.  Stopping surrendering to them.  Etc.

Doesn't look that good. I saw an interview with Metzinger, philosopher of mind.. he said teachings were the most fun port of the job until it quickly changed 5 years ago. Now it's the worst part, people look down in their smartphones and are unable to concentrate.

But Leo, just let us flee away for one second. You mentioned a number, 2500. That puts us in a still early moment in the ancient roman greek civilisation. Can you imagine what it must have been, to be part of a rising civilisation, especially the roman greek one.

Debating concepts of modern politics for the first time, when everything is allowed to be idealistic and new. Your lectures would have been debated in parks by society figures. Theatre in its early innocent era. Philosophy was promising with a unexplored fields

I don't think we can even imagine the differences between early and late civilisations. In our late western decadent era we lack the collective consciousness(a sort of web) with genius nodes that early civs had.

An average joe could come up with brilliant stuff in an early civilisation , where as a "genius" can't think of anything, but mediocre stuff, in a late decadent civ that is.

But hey, new times will come, and new good eras will steal the best from our western times, thus Acutalized.org will live on.. :)
