Fasting

8 posts in this topic

Just as a tip. Not sure if this has been covered by you @Leo Gura but if anyone needs a first hand, no doubt experience of how the mind manipulate us then try fasting. Set a goal of one week water only fast. Its not problematic, not dangerous. In fact it carries multiple health benefits.

watch closely what your mind does. First couple of days your gut is screaming, your lethargic and pretty much feel like shit. Around day three your no longer hungry at all (why where you the first two? You clearly made your mind up to do this so, why?) And then the «fun» starts and all kinds of irrational thoughts pops up. I could die from this?, my work will suffer!, will i faint? All bullshit and you know its false.

This gave me my first awakening if you will, some years back, of how the mind can go to extremes to manipulate us for its own causes. It triggered my hunger for self actualization and i have done my best (i think) never ever taken anything it boils up as the truth since.

Dont take any of this for granted, check it out for yourself. Quite a fun project

Much love to all

@Berjohansen now I see why yogis hate food. Always thought that food was natural and healthy, until I heard ravi shankar say that effective results from meditation comes from an empty stomach.

Thanks.

it works. I recently had 3 days of water-only

on day 2 and 3 you not only have more clarity, energy and good mood, but also you can have non-dual glimpses more intensely

on day 4 clarity, energy and non-dualness dropped, thoughts were mostly about food, so I got to stop

but that was for my current body-state, overall it depends on practice, more you try that more days you can sustain fasting with more benefits, on certain point it will produce more drawbacks

Do YOU know that, or are you beeing told that? This is exactly why its such a productive experiment. Do YOU want to think about food all the time or would you prefer to keep the clarity? Well whos thinking about food then? Are those YOUR thoughts? its those couple of days you really get to experience what your mind is capable of. You dont want the clarity to stop so who is stopping it? Who feels threatened of your clear mind and non-dual experiences? Hmmmmm

@Berjohansen u can't override your bodily habits without preparation, otherwise its counter-productive

u start with 1 day fasting

then 3

then 7

then 10

2 weeks

then u might go for month.

also u can just limit ur daily food to reasonable maxim.

Well, you can actually. And the point IS to override your bodily «habits» and its not habits its «wants» The point is to observe and experience wich meassure the mind goes to to get what it wants. Quite an eye opening experience.

my brain fucks with me everyday so i like to spank its ass every now and then to get even ;)

Yeah every time i did a fast it felt like i was reborn again. The more you unsubscribe to the more whole you become, the more is understood.

You find all by losing all
