Previous enlightenment experience through beauty of nature?

11 posts in this topic

I remember seeing a chart Leo made about enlightenment, and apart of this chart had all the ways to get to enlightenment. One of which was through the beauty of nature. Which surprised me because I remember around 13/14 years old (I think) I was really depressed and suicidal, and one day I just got really mad at it all, and decided to get exercise and hike. Which was a big deal back then, because I played video games in literally all of my free time. And it was some where around 7 pm, and I climbed this smallish hill, and all nature around me felt like some spiritual/mystical experience.

And without getting into the details of all of it. That was how I viewed nature every time I was outdoors. It was like that for several months (or a year) I think and then that spiritual connection with nature dropped off and I don't really feel that anymore, but I still love nature.

So my main question here is, did I have some sort of enlightenment experience? Or what the hell happened? I'm not very old, not a ton of life experience. I don't really know what I hope to obtain through this post. I guess just knowledge of what happened, or your opinions and thoughts.

@Jamie Universe Hi. That was a type of Samadhi experience you probably had. Union. It felt as if God was looking through your eyes?

@Jamie Universe Since all is in actuality self, there is a direction and spectrum to the visual & audible aspect of waking up. Typically, it starts with a lot less thinking / mental filtering activity / projection (or the rare “fuck all” / suicidal trigger of awakening), resulting in increased awareness of our person and surrounding - appreciation of our “beingness”. Animals & botanical life don’t have our intensity of thinking filter, I presume they are total “beingness” - “infinite intelligence”. So there’s a connection with nature we ascend to, and likewise nature resonates with our awakened presence - there is twoness in the illusion, but of course oneness in the underlying reality. Then we experience it with people. Then inanimate “reality”.

“Reality” itself, is not consistent, it certainly appears to be, but perception is everything, as there is no “reality” which is perceivable, only reality perceiving, only One, which is perceiving it’s self. It really is a “Jamie Universe”, quite literally.

@Jamie Universe   Seems like the revealing of a oneness/all-connectedness experience. So yes, It's what could be called an initial awakening to an expanded Awareness. Probably best at this point to focus on some kind of formal meditation and contemplation of that simple awareness, which is what one is in essence, perhaps out  in nature, since you seem to be inclined toward enjoying its beauty, and just let your true nature takes its course.

Of course nature pulls at our heartstrings. There is something innocent, beautiful, and powerful about it. Nature reveals the pettiness of most human aspirations and chimpery. Nature is awe-some and gargantuan beyond the mind's ability to comprehend. Which is why people love looking at sunsets, mountains, rivers, and the night sky.

The human brain is actually hardwired to connect with nature on a spiritual level. They have verified this in the lab by showing people line drawings of some hills, a stream, and a tree. This picture is universally preferred over pictures of city-scapes, for example. Your brain actually releases pleasure chemicals just from looking at nature.

It should also be easier to get enlightened out in nature, for this reason.

But also, don't confuse an awesome emotional moment out in nature with a true enlightenment experience. A true enlightenment experience is so big and out-of-the-realm of conventional reality, it's in a league all on its own.

Your experience was probably just 0.0000001% of what a really deep mystical experience can be like.

You are God. You are Truth. You are Love. You are Infinity.

Last Autumn I traveled up to the Upper Peninsula do Michigan during peak leaf color. It was a Tuesday morning and I was alone hiking deep in nature on 20mg of 4-Aco-Dmt.  The diversity of of nature put me in awe. The various tress, river, animals, plants all interacting together. Quite often when I’m in nature, I’m in my head or wanting just a little something . Maybe it’s a little too hot and humid, or two many mosquitoes, or other hikers that should have their dogs on leashes. Yet, here nature hit absolutel beauty. And odd things happen at 100% beauty. Similar to the massive difference between 99% and 100% solar eclipse. Here, I had to surrender to 100% beauty. I felt like I was going insane. It transcended art, love, music, poetry.

Thats why I'm obsessed of leaving the city when I got money and live in the countryside. When I'm in nature I easily become part of the ecosystem with the animals and plants, the spiritual feeling of oneness in the forest is awesome. That's not a fully enlightenment but a samadhi experience.

Interesting... I haven't had an awakening experience yet. All your replies will definitely serve as motivation for any work I do.
