@Dodo Many people think uncertinity causes fear. This is not true. What you fear is actually thinking you know

You might you dont know, but YOU THINK YOU KNOW. Difference.

If a friend said for christmas, he would eitheir give you a 100 euros, but eitheir in 2, 50 euro notes or in 5, 20 euro notes, woulld you fear or have anxiety? No, because you dont believe he wont give you.

There is no point in this. What I tried to put forward with my comment was that what is needed is practice and to see for one's self. I want to see and then I will know if Leo's definition is true or not - no need to mentally masturbate over it, but it's good to be prepared for 'the worst' anyway. To be prepared for 'death'.

Mind over Matter, Awareness over Mind

Throughout the last few years I really started to have a calmer mind for certain aspects. I dont care about answering the question whether there is a god or not. I am absolutely fine with people believing in god. I simply dont and I dont need to explain my point of view. I still remember when I was a teenager or so when this whole existential questioning was a part of me. I remember my passion for that topic. I feel like a little bit of that past passion comes back to me when I see all the people talking about enlightenment nowadays. Because it sounds as if people make it a "thing". The more we talk about it the more it becomes this "thing" and therefore less of a potential enlightenment experience.

The more problematic aspect of this topic is that we are not talking about the number 4 or 5 or 6 or 7. Or the color yellow or green. Or the presidency of Barack Obama. Or gravity or the vietnam war. These things are defined somehow. Enlightenment, If I recall correctly, is not.

Like for one person enlightenment could be to take a daily shit in the morning and for the other person it could mean to travel the world and mars, living in austerity and in the very end do a little bit of self-immolation. Not mentioning that what one needs to do to feel "enlightened" and the intensity of their "enlightenment experience" are both variables.

So feel free to criticize the hell out of my comment but shouldnt we just shut the hell up about enlightenment once and for all and talk about something better which doesnt include so many variables? Because it really feels like mental masturbation at its finest.
