What are the evidence of children and animals are effectively enlightened

How can we be sure that children and animals are unconsciously enlightened?? 

Are there any evidence from psychology and biology suggesting that there is no sense of self vs others in animals and little children?

We know that many animals are very much social creatures as they have social interactions, hierarchies. So can we be sure that they don't have sense of self/ego?
