Happiness is a choice

11 posts in this topic

See if you be yourself and not this character you have grown to pretend to be, you will always naturally be happy and free because you are simply being yourself, you are representing natural, universal flow which resides beyond this "character world" everyone lives by so nothing of this world can actually effect you, because you do not partake in it to begin with instead you being the observer.

Does a wave in the ocean interact with the fish?

At the same time when you be yourself you can only exist in presence, once past/future penetrates your field you have given in to the "character/ego world" again. (so to speak)

This is how everyone should be, but instead most choose to wait for Christmas, New years, Birthdays, or other ideologies and excuses to be that happy, actually believing something outside of themselves made them that much happier that day.

It was a choice, and it all started with you.

It always has :)

"Why be happy if you could be interesting?"

You know you are it and much more.

Sadness is as much you as happiness is. You don't need to be happy. You can be sure, but "to be yourself" you have to experience every other aspect of life such as unhappiness, sadness, drama, fear and any other negative emotions as well as joy, fulfillment and every other positive emotion. Every emotion is as much you as happiness. Being yourself doesn't just mean you're free and happy.

Happiness is a choice though. I'm not sure if it's the most fulfilling choice.

Sadness comes from learned samskaras, attachments, frustrated expectations. Without ego sadness cannot exist because there isnt a self judging things and evatuating them as good or bad.

I'm agree with the OP, the problem is that in our sociaty is not allowed to be absolutely free. In fact freedom, is punished by gobernments, we must stay ordered and behave in certain ways ansd this repression prevents us fromn showing the authentic self, who is happy by default.

A discussion on Reddit of what "the Dude abides" means has some consensus that it's an:

Intentionally vague phrase hinting at the fact that The Dude Lives, in his unperturbable state of dudeness, somewhere.

Can happiness be brute-forced.

If I was submitted to torture, or any uncomfortable or painful situation. Joy somehow seems the more difficult option to choose. The ego wants to be unhappy. "Your not surviving! Bad!"

Happiness is a pleasure which is mechanical. A product of thought. Part of the fragmentary nature of ego. The ego wants to be any movment of thought. And where there is pleasure there is pain.

Again, happiness is a moment of of thought. And thought/knowledge, within the realm of the spirit or psychological realm has no place. Infact this is the root of all psychological problems.

There's a level a of surrender you must embrace to understand that all is one and the same.
