Meditation With Specific Focus Vs Do-nothing

2 posts in this topic

Hey!
So for about a year or so I have now done meditation that focuses your attention on the breath, as I learned it via the "Headspace" app.

Leo has presented the meditation technique "Do-Nothing" which seems to lack a specific focus.

Could someone give me some pointers on how to stay aware without having a specific focus? And which of those methods do you prefer?

Specific focus doesen't mean no awareness at all. You can simply watch anything that comes up, but the important part is to try to not control anything.
My way of practicing Do nothing is that I simply keep my eyes open and stare at the ceiling while lying down and let my mind go crazy as it likes. I just witness everything that comes up without judgement simply letting it flow the attention can go from body sensations to thoughts to the ceiling doesen't really matter. This is the trick of this meditation you kind of train the ability to stay aware with anything that you unconscious would pay attention to at that moment, if this makes sense. A kind of auto-pilot purge of all the crap that accumulated over the years.
