How To Avoid Solipsistic Loneliness

7 posts in this topic

Eversince my 2 very foundational LSD trips in this years spring I feel completely transformed, in the sense that having this awakening experience but not yet being "enlightened" leaves emotional scars, as it seems to me.

I often have these thoughts of being "the only aware" entity in this world, but also I (conceptually) know that this again is just an illusion and solpisism not quite where I want to be with this work. Also this bring this very depressive and lonely vibe to my spiritual work, even though it is "supposed" to be or lead to bliss. I know this sounds like something an egotistical self would say, but my question is, how to overcome this phase? There certainly is something big I'm missing.

Sounds like spiritual ego to me, i've had it myself aswell. You can overcome it only by being honest with yourself and not letting your ego BS you. Ego is always seeking seperateness from others. When you are high on confidence your ego will diminish others and see them as less aware for example. Once you can be aware that your ego is making all this, it will quickly shape itself in to another form to grab your attention. Your mind is like a really good salesman, it knows wich buttons to press to get your attention.

Meditate.

@ADD Sounds good, did you personally do any specific type of meditation, something close to self-inquiry? I myself have now been able to succesfully stick to a daily 1hr meditation habit, but nothing more besides that. (I didn't do that at the time I was tripping, which might have shaped the experience a little more to the negative than one might wish)

I've been through a lot of this myself. What worked better than trying to convince myself I'm not alone, is to just accept it. Worst case scenario, I am the only being in the universe. So what? Like Leo says in his loneliness video, if you get in touch with being this won't be an issue. It's only the separate self that would have these kinds of concerns.

@DnoReally When you get to loving it, and you will, some very interesting things can happen for you. Things that I would describe as inconsistent reality or miracles. Keep doing the practices. In the coming years, big you is gonna blow your mind - if you’re ok with that. Keep calm & get mindfucked.

@DnoReally This idea that you will get enlightened in one shot, isn't realistic. Realistically, whether you use psychedelics or not, your waking up process will take years, and involve a lot of mini-breakthroughs, followed by ego backlashes, etc.

The solution is to stop looking at this as a magic pill, and see it as a life's work of growing up. And then enjoy as much of it as you can. Don't treat it as something to be over and done with.

The whole point of this path is curiosity, awe, love, magic, beauty. Try not to turn it into a grind.

With this kind of attitude you should be able to weather any negative phases that you encounter.

You are God. You are Truth. You are Love. You are Infinity.

When thoughts like that arise through out the day, i notice them with compassion. Then i soft my focus on my breath. If the thoughts rise again, as they will. I notice them with compassion and gently shift my focus back on my breath/body.

I constantly remind myself of following my thoughts again during the day, but it's important to do it in a loving way. Don't fight against your thoughts, just let them be, and be aware of them.

To me it's actually starting to be quite funny how silly thoughts my mind makes, that in unconcious mode i would take for granted.
