Actualization Or Enlightenment?

6 posts in this topic

"Make no mistake about it – enlightenment is a destructive process. It has nothing to do with becoming better or being happier. Enlightenment is the crumbling away of untruth. It’s seeing through the facade of pretense. It’s the complete eradication of everything we imagined to be true." Adyashanti.

I just want to get this discomfort out there.

It seems to me as if Leo spent years Self Actualizing, got to a certain point, then found out about enlightenment. It was one, then the other. Then he sort of re-hashed the narrative of his life to fit that journey. His videos on making money, attracting women, how to make a girl squirt... He seems to be saying that they are all a part of Self-Actualisation and that Self Actualisation= Enlightenment. It seems to me as though he views it as this linear journey, you burn away all of your neuroses, you improve the Self (or actualize it) and then you Enlighten it. He always uses the two with each other, almost interchangeably because it kind of suits the journey he has been on.

Now he has made the distinction clear in certain videos but that doesn't change the dominant theme of his channel lately which is to kind of use the two terms interchangeably or as the same process.

I know I'm holding onto something false here, so I just wanted to post it and get some feedback. Could people refer directly to the post please.

Thanks,

John

Self actualization is how to be a successful well adjusted human. Think of actualization as a masters degree in humanity.  Enlightenment is a masters degree in reality. They are defiantly two different things.

I no longer advocate, participate, condone, or support  actualized.org or Leo Gura in anyway. The reasons are left in the few post I left behind.

@John Leo was clear in one of his videos, he said during his journey he may change approach or he may even say contradictory facts form video to video as he grows and this is something expected.

We do self development here, which means there will be progress in many different levels, means stuff the we talked in the past as valuables may not have the same value as we discover constantly new things, there will be more spiritual, larger than ''5 reasons why men cheat''.

After decades of self actualization someone might get enlightened and it is not granted.

It both is deeply rooted together. If you dont actualize in order to have a stable emotionality, mentality and such you will have a hard time in pursuing enlightenment. Although I think enlightenment is not the only path, actualization alone has infinite dimensions to it, some may say it all is a distraction but in the end we all will die anyway, why speed it up and die while you are alive already, time doesen't exists does it?

What Adyashanti didn’t include in that quote is that untruth is the root of suffering. Self actualize to the top of the Maslow pyramid so enlightenment is atleast accessible to you. If you reach that place in our process, and aren’t happier, I guess I’d have to take you at your word.

Both, of course!
