Intellectual Passions

3 posts in this topic

Which academic subjects deeply fascinate you? What subject motivates you to devour books, documentaries and online research without stopping? I'm obsessed with a wide variety of topics. I love learning about folklore, fairy tales, comparative mythology, and folk music from a wide variety of cultures. I love studying history particularly subjects like revolutions, colonization, war, oppression and political systems particularly democracy, anarchism and totalitarianism. I love listening to music and learning about music history! I love watching films and I have a deep passion for animation particularly stop motion history and traditional animation. I think that my greatest passion of all time would be watching and studying theater! Recently, I have a growing passion for literary theater and learning about world cultures and travel! Thanks to Leo, Julia Cameron, Twlya Tharpe, Tony Robbins and Robert Greene, I have a growing passion for self-actualization. I also love studying religions like Paganism, Heathenism, Quakerism, Unitarian Universalism, Secular Humanism, and other religions. I want to discover even more passions and deepen my love of learning!

One academic subject that fascinate me the most right now is Literature. Literature studies about almost everything in life. It portrays a great variety of human conditions and human emotions. It allows us to explore different issues that everyone will experience in their lives and think critically about them. By learning about the nuances intended through word choice, imagery, metaphor and body languages (for plays), we learn how to empathise with individuals and look at things from their perspectives. We learn about the pains and many emotions that the generally competitive, result oriented society today may overlook in the pursuit of tangible assets and in the midst of the rat race. It has taught me how to accept different individuals for who they are (both their strengths and flaws) because of the experiences and social conditioning they have went through. As we learn about the different lives and see how living meaningfully can have different meanings to different individuals, we reflect and try to find what is our version. Literature is what begins my journey of enlightenment and actualisation. It gives me the feeling that finally there is a true way to understand things beyond the surface level and to connect people with different life experiences together. It excites me alot whenever I chance upon a literature work that resonates deeply with me. I was and is still deeply in love with this subject. As such, I feel a great sense of sadness when it is reported that there is lesser students taking up this subject at secondary level in my country. Although my vocabulary and English is nowhere near excellent, I wish to continue pursuing this subject. It has already become one of my favourite hobbies. The motivation behind this subject for me is beyond words that I aspire to teach and help others in discovering the capacity of this subject in future.

The world is composed with many fascinating topics and they are infinitesimal,i love many subjects but i would like to share to you favourite one .I personally love the Chemistry!when I was young I would watch my Grandfather who was a Chemist  stay up all night just reading books and applying pragmatic skills required for any profound chemistry fields. I was given an old book from him about the basics of chemistry, often i would get into the bed and read the book night after night! under my blanket.

One day I came across something very interesting that i was skeptical about.I saw that the chemical formula of table salt was NaCl2 I found that very weird because I knew that i was told both elements present there were dangerous although it was safe to eat table salt, and that's what got me more into chemistry.

Observing my Grandfather performing his Mystical Experiments was mesmerizing i liked the beautiful colours produced.I questioned the reasons for the colours and got answers!Chemistry is a type of subject that once you dig deeper it gets Very Exciting and interesting to learn about! I'm very motivated in discovering other hidden secrets about this subject in the future.

I wish sharing this to "you" helps "you" in finding your true Intellectual passions!
