A Meditation Journal

8 posts in this topic

Greetings,

I have struggled in the past with forming a solid habit around meditation. Though I have found something that I feel makes it so much easier to form the habit and I thought I would share it with everyone today. Lately I have been keeping a journal of my meditation sessions and answering some questions after each session.

These questions include the following:

1.) How long did the session last?

2.) What were some notable thoughts or feelings?

3.) What were some insights that I had, if any?

4.) Is there anything I'd like to focus on or try for next session?

These questions have really given me something to focus on and helped set a foundation for progress. If anyone has any other questions they think would be great to add to these 4 questions, I'd love to hear you out!

hi. i think it depends on the meditation technique. say, you were practicing the "Do Nothing", i think there's no need to accomplish there, no questions should be answered, just plain observation and savor what's entering on your 5 senses. just be present. this is a luxury.

What i do after the meditation is to ask myself, "On a scale of 1 to 10, how would i rate this session?" most of the time, i feel like it was 3 or 2, lol. the monkey mind usually wins, it always grabs the spotlight, and drags everywhere.. haha and then id say to myself, i will try to do better next time.

@Sage_Elias I like this a lot!

@mathieu I feel that this method works well for me regardless of the technique that I am using. It's just that the questions get answered differently. I like that rating idea. I never thought to rate my sessions, haha

@Sage_Elias How long do you do affirmations for?

5 minutes of saying

"I am completely independent of the good or bad opinions of others"
