@Dodo When you're doing self-inquiry, are you looking to direct consciousness or are you thinking about it?

Philosophy is okay, because ultimately, it should pull the rug out from underneath itself and expose its own limits, but that doesn't mean you can just substitute thinking for direct consciousness.

That said, notice how biological entity is just another concept. Just because a concept is useful for manipulating reality and creating predictive models doesn't mean that it is "real" in the absolute sense. Self-consistency and predictability doesn't necessarily rule out something from being an illusion.

We tend to project the label reality onto  self-consistent, predictable phenomena. Culturally, we see this on larger scales, which is how we arrive at social constructs and modern science--none of this is bad per se, but it is not the Absolute. Investigate reality beyond the level of thought and concept.

Now, you might be afraid that Enlightenment is all BS and just more delusion, which is reasonable. But you've got to make the choice: Are you going to take the leap-of-faith and walk the path, making your determination after having become highly conscious, or are you going to reject it out of fear or assuming it's not worthwhile?

How do you know? Is it a belief?
