Mirror Neurons And Enlightenment. Can Enlightenment Just Be An Emotion?

7 posts in this topic

You guys perhaps heard what mirror neurons are. They are responsible for many things such as learning through copying others and empathy, i.e. they are directed towards external world.

I wonder, since enlightenment is an awareness of ultimate unity with external world and realisation of no-self - is it not then a condition when those mirror neurons are being so highly activated that it shuts down our 'internal-oriented parts of brain', so we can feel so ultimately connected with external world to the extent that abandon ourselves?

Especially when I read abt how psychedelics help you to achieve enlightenment. Don't they manipulate chemical processes in brain? Then doesn't it mean that enlightenment is just a chemical process in brain, i.e. just another EMOTION like fear, love, sadness which are ultimately illusions created by mind coz they are merely a chemical processes? The only difference is that this emotional state reached through various techniques such as meditation.

Please clarify and give me arguments against (without throwing stones)

Enlightenment is concept-free realization, its non-conceptual being, and living it is the expression of nobility and magnanimity. Expression or clarification of words, definitions or truths are merely pretenses and veneers of what is actually the case. When you drop ALL conceptualizations such as "mirror neurons" and go beyond them, you'll see what I'm talking about.

@Monkey-man

Enlightenment isn't a state or emotion, mistaking enlightenment for a emotion, or a particular experience is understandable. Because these states & emotions are side effects that can occur along with the enlightenment experiences. The ultimate truth isn't a experience or state. Its just you.

I don't understand what is just a chemical process in the brain and what isn't.

@Monkey-man There ain't no external world. That's just an idea. You're assuming it exists, when it does not, which makes your line of reasoning misguided.

You are God. You are Truth. You are Love. You are Infinity.

Emotions comes from thoughts, dont they? Enlightment is realization without the filter of thoughts. So i dont think so. My humble opinion.
