Stuff To Do During Low Mental Activity Period

Im having an army thing for the next month where Ill barely use my brain, therefore I want to apply some techniques during the whole day to get some nice progress and not just waste a month.

I want to employ as many techniques as I could manage, for example, noticing breath and positive thinking the whole day.

It doesnt have to be any techniques, just advice as to what should I do during that period would be appreciated, thanks.

@Ilya You don't have to do anything. I recommend you just focus on the breathing method of meditation and not mix other techniques of meditation. Positive thinking Will get you away from the Truth not closer to it. I recommend you just stay aware of the breath and maybe do little manipulations of breath where you consciously slow down your breathing. You can't be fully aware of the breathing mechanism and also think at the same time. This is the perfect time to practice slow breathing and conscious breathing. If you do this breath by breath for the whole month you Will embody more Truth than meditating for 3 years straight because the process is not linear in this case.

16hours a day of this method x 30 days = 480 hours of meditation and that is not even comparable to meditating for 480 days for 1 hour a day. It's much much much more powerful and effective.

If you use this method your mind Will surrender to the point where you Will realize that all is happening without you thinking anything and that means you Will embody more of the realization that free Will doesn't exist and that all is jsut happening in the now moment.

@AleksM dont completely agree with the positive thinking but the breathing sounds very attractive! thanks for the motivation :)

@Ilya In my experience putting just a slight smile on your face (consciously stretching the mouth muscles upward) and inhaling gratefulness  much more effective and also compatible with the method I mentioned above. When you do this you trick your brain as if your actually being happy. Positive thinking is not compatible with conscious breathing.

@AleksM yeah, at the same time it's not really possible. What I meant more was being conscious of thoughts and letting go of bad ones, while actively searching the good in stuff. I guess that doesnt make you get nearer to Truth than breath focus but I dont think it strays away from it.

@Ilya Positive thoughts are relative to negative ones. When you do as I told you, you Will paradoxically become more positive and happy and that happiness is going to be authentic happiness that is based on your internal being not just based on thoughts that come and go. When you don't get attached to positive thoughts than negative thoughts have no effect on you and so you become able to act from there more consciously moving forward. You Will basicly detach from thoughts and this is powerfull and more effective than basing your happiness on positive thoughts. Don't search for anything in this period if you do this, this Will only take away from focusing on your breath. I know it sounds deceivingly simple but it's the most effective  when you fully focus on breathing and nothing else. You have to commit not dabble for this month to get the most consciousness expanding effect possible. When you do this, everything Will take care of itself, probably not perfectly (it doesn't need to be perfect in this situation anyway). This Will expand your consciousness the most and that is what you want in the first place.

@AleksM For this period I agree somewhat, as something that I asked for in this post.

But I think on regular days-correct me if you think im wrong- positive thinking is better than concentration on breath, because we cant operate as humans 24/7 from a state of expanded awareness. We have to fulfill our role as a person. As shinzen and much more master said, they have a choice whether to access the source or not, the time they arent doing it, they're people. since we plebs arent as developed we dont have access to source so we should have something to back us up like positive thinking, else we'd just get lost in the mumbo jumbo of awareness and not actually live human lives. we do this work at the end of the day to live as self actualized humans, not as some awareness ghosts.

When the mind surrenders no positive thinking is necessary anymore. Even focusing on the breath is not necessary anymore. That's why I have told you to just focus on that technique for the whole month. After that do as you wish if your monkey mind survives, but it's totally possible you Will hit a point of no return.
