Mind Created Reality

Today, at a time I was struggling with the old question « what is the best way to wake up from all these mind chattering? » that the mind loves so much to lead us (itself!) astray from committing to core training, I managed to not get lost into these thoughts process, before they gained too much momentum.

I went deeper into meditation, for Being to reemerge with more intensity, and thus free « me » of this struggle with those annoying thoughts.

After a few minutes, I had a sudden insight on how the mind works: how it continuously creates an alternative reality. At that moment, the active deception was astonishingly clear: the mind creates from scratch an alternative reality, just like if we were wearing glasses with little screens on them, onto which the mind projects a « movie » of its own creation, that can be just as convincing as « actual reality », with the body reacting to it just as it would « reality ». No wonder it is so hard to wake up with such a talented director (the ego) that can switch in a heartbeat to another movie if we get tired or too suspect of the one currently playing.

Yes, that is spirituality 101. However, I had this kind of insights a few times before and it never felt nearly as liberating as this one time. There is indeed quite a difference between knowing that what is projected is ultimately not real, and actually seeing the “making of”: the projectors, the camera running, the actors obviously acting … Takes a lot out of the seriousness and dramatic aspect of the situation!

I am very visual, maybe explaining how I perceived that insight.

I guess this is no breaking news to most readers here ;) but still this makes me wonder about the « cleaned reality » that « I » perceived in this moment (and in other previous enlightenment moments).

My intuition right now is that there are, in a dual point of view, two kinds of dreams. The first ones, that we are most familiar with as individuals, are the ego created movies that play before our eyes and veil « reality ». The second one is unique, the One very consistent dream (reality) « created » by Oneness.

Hence, the ego created dreams would be dreams within the Dream.

P.S: Once more, this insight drew me closer especially to one very simple yet quite elusive spiritual rule: true growth means embodying truth. One thousand steps in intellectual understanding do not equal a single step in embodiment. Guess I’ll need a few more insights since I am still thinking about it
