How To Make Decisions Without Thoughts?

24 posts in this topic

Do decisions even exist? The whole concept of decision implies there is something "in between" of subject and action, but action is all there is!

Even if we take the concept of decision as valid, who would make the decision to decide?

It seems there is no such thing as "decision". What do you guys think? @Azrael @Leo Gura @Wes Thoughts

@Afonso Well... we can split all sorts of hairs about how you define a "decision" if we want to get all philosophical about it.

But just speaking from an everyday level, there do seem to be these sort of decisive moments in your day, when your mind selects between various options.

For example, if you get an itch on your face, you can sit there and watch precisely when your mind will decide to finally scratch it, thereby causing the muscles in your arm to activate. You can even notice your muscles pre-activating before the decision is fully made.

Of course you can view it all as just a smooth symphony of action, one flowing into the next.

You are God. You are Truth. You are Love. You are Infinity.

Riding a bicycle, driving a car, do you want to be aware of all the decisions being made to keep you balanced or would you rather focus on the road.

Looking in the fridge and then wondering why you opened it, sleep walking or being drunk.  The hand from Dr Straneglove choking him. Maybe, just unresolved issues or creative endeavours, brought out by lack of consciousness.

  • How To Make Decisions Without Thoughts?
    • you can't, simply because decisions = thoughts
      • each action (even the smallest like the beat of your heart) starts with a subtle movement (impercettible thought).. you don't call it thought because you can't perceive it or it does not bother you... when the subtle movement  is annoying you call it thought.
    • so, what to do?
      • stop identify with the doer... you are not the decision-maker, you are not the thought-producer so you have not to stop what is not yours. Period.
