Overwhelming Social Fear

7 posts in this topic

So today is my first day on my new school. No friends will be going with me, I'm completely on my own.

If I consciously contemplate what the worst that could happen is, it is not something that is even worth worrying over. Still my unconscious automatically goes into fear mode, so far that eventually the fear is so overwhelming that I feel like I have to vomit.

Even with all the self actualization that I've done, my mind is still hardwired to worry to death. How could I get past this And rewire it?

Or what could I do to make the sensations less overwhelming?

Thanks you guys

@Principium Nexus Yes it's always the mind fantasizing about it. Which is not actually real.

Now that I'm back, it wasn't actually that bad.

This happens often as this was a habit I had when I was not self actualizing yet. Always worrying about what COULD happen.

Now that I raised my consciousness quite a bit this doesn't happen that often, but sometimes I still fall into my thought processes

Going to a therapist soon. Hopefully I can get through this and have my subconscious working with me aswell

This happens to me, I'm the king of the theory I've read tons of Self-actualization material but little practice. As other mates said practice is what makes nyour brain rewire, not theory.

Exposure.

exposure and discomfort. make eye contact and listen with your heart. melt down in pure presence.

my theory layer is very thin. i've organized it in such a way that every single line of argumentation leads to a form of practice.

@Max_V Make yourself familiar in those "fearful" situations. You basically will rewire your subconscious to not be "afraid" of other people because the last 1000 times nothing happened. This is when you bite the bullet and go chat up people and expose yourself to as many people as possible. You really don't have to worry about anything. Be aware though that this is some sort of mild social anxiety.

@Socrates Yes I'm really trying to get that going. I've always been socialy scared, but with my consciousness work all that stuff has been coming up a lot. It's now ten times worse, like as I already said in my first post, the fearful sensations can become so worse that I have to vomit.

I will start therapy soon so that will help me work this out while also doing self inquiry and meditation. Should be very effective hopefully
