I Ching

3 posts in this topic

Hello all,

I am new here and this is my first post.

I have been working with the I Ching Oracle - the Wilhelm/Baynes version- as a means of self improvement for about 12 years and it has been a great influence on my life. I was wondering if anyone else here works with or studies the I Ching and had some any tips they discovered in working with it or compliments to it. I do also study the Toa Te Ching and have found that very complementary.

I hope you are all having a great Saturday Morning if you are on this part of the globe or Friday evening if you are in the US

@B Clear The I Ching is a incredible oracle it is my preferred divination method.

Right now I am using Tarot mainly because all of my stuff for the last 2 years  has been  in storage. I just picked up 2 digital copy's of books so I can get back to it Wilhelm/Baynes and The complete I ching which has a more Taoist slant.

Confucianism is directly linked to I Ching so you might want to reference that as Confucius's commentary's can help understand context better.  I do not have any tips right now but when I get back to it I  will see what I remember.

Do you use yarrow sticks or coins to divine ?

If you haven't already, check out James DeKorne's Book of Gnostic Changes, freely available online. It has compiled various translations and commentaries for each hexagram and I've found it to be the most insightful and comprehensive resource on the subject available. The introduction chapters are really high quality too.

"I Ching Oracle - the Wilhelm/Baynes version". Looked up that edition on Amazon, has a forward by C.G.Jung, which really peaked my interest, as I was thinking about how Jungian Archetypes might relate to the I Ching. A while a go initially thought the book, was just some weird random number generator like some folded paper kids game. But at a second glance, it does seem to have some interesting archetypal psychological implications, reflected in everyday life.
