About Insights

Hello Everyone, and this is my first post here!

So, I was watching Leo's Concentration vs Meditation video and I got immediately curious about the nature of insights which might come up during a concentration practice. And I gotta tell you I'm kinda sensing this is a bit silly to ask but could those insights that one observes and sort of judges as being mystical and gratifying in fact lead us astray? I mean, could they be false in the first place?

Yes. They could be false.

There's a problem here that anything translated into thought or word is automatically false, because thoughts and words are symbols/translations of a thing, and not the thing itself. An insight may come as a wordless 'aha!' moment, which is great; however there's a danger that if you dwell too much on it in thought or writing  (and, yes, debate and discussion here) you lose touch with anything of value the insight provided as you get sucked more and more into the thoughts/words about it

Everything that is not being can be the truth, no matter what the insight may be

@naive13 aren't you using the word insight to mean, a deeper truth?

By You comes forgetfulness, remembering and knowledge.

All else has emptiness as its nature. (Physical and mental objects).

@naive13 Of course, anything can lead you astray. That is the irreducible problem at the heart of epistemology.

And don't forget, that your doubt that they could lead you astray, could itself lead you astray if you are wrong.
