How Can I Manage Too Much Focus In The Wrong Thing?

5 posts in this topic

I'm growing more able to focus at depth at a long length of time. But the more I focus this well — the more I find that I focus so much that I find it hard to switch my attention from one thing to another. For example, I'd be absolutely fascinated in learning a new hobby but get so absorbed I can't switch to focusing on my scheduled workout. Today I got so absorbed in reading a book I was almost late in getting somewhere. And the more I focus well — the more I lose track of time. A day can feel like a month and that feels awesome but it screws my time management skills.

It has to do with how blissful I feel when I'm focusing at something, especially something intellectually difficult at depth. I guess all the meditation made my focus better — but how can I turn it off sometimes?

why would you turn it off? monkey mind is a nightmare from hell.

being able to spend the day in the meditative state is a blessing.

instead of turning it off, why don't you let it sink deeper in you? get used to it. your life has gained an incredible boost.

@WaterfallMachine simply start a daily meditation practice of returning focus to your breathing.   meditation stops momentum.  this will build the habit of stopping focus.  @WaterfallMachine

Wow. This worked better than I thought. Thanks!
