Ego Is Made Of Pain

8 posts in this topic

Just a little insight that isnt meaningful at all so please dont bring any importance to it.
But EGO is one could say a creature made of pain.
Isn´t it ironic how beautifully then it makes sense that the world looks like it does? It is run by pain! :-)

I can't nothing but agree.

But the pain is crated just by our mind and psyche. take a look at those articles about mind-pain connection:

https://www.learning-mind.com/is-pain-real-or-is-it-all-in-your-head-neuroscience-explains/

https://www.scientificamerican.com/article/is-pain-construct-of-mind/

That is it. A real connection betwen what you thing and how you suffer. The ego is created by our mind. The journey to enlightement is just about releasing from our monkey mind back to the nature of thoughts.

By pain, I think you might mean suffering.  Either way, if there is no suffering and no pain, by your statement and logic the ego would cease to exist.  Actually, the ego continues to exist even without suffering or pain (based on my direct experience)...so I would have to disagree with your statement.  Suffering does strengthen the ego quite a bit though, but there is a bit more to the ego than just suffering and pain.

It's not "made of pain" in my experience, it's not really made of anything other than what I make of it.

Buddy, have you heard Eckhart Tolles concept of pain body aka ego?

He explain it here, it resonates with your original post!

Love you!

Thank you for this. I had heard Eckhart Tolle talk about the Pain Body in passing after watching a handful of his videos. And I have known to focus my awareness on pain. But this video makes it clear why I tend to be attracted to negative things and things that are going to ruffle my feathers. I find that I'm always looking to distract myself in things that irk or salt old wounds. And then I find myself getting a bit passive aggressive at times in response.

Are you struggling with self-sabotage and CONSTANTLY standing in the way of your own success?

Just sharing a thought. haha But isn't 'ego' just another way of saying thought?

Who knows?
I've seen some people who have egos and are happy.  Happiness isn't something that is exempt from anyone who isn't Enlightened.
