Yes, it works. It's simple. Sometimes I do this as a hobby. I heard from someone who had three small children that when her husband lost his job, it was a good way to save and budget during tough times. She doesn't need to go to the groceries so often and spend. She spent a lot less and saved time going to the groceries.

I would like to start growing my own veggies one day. for now it is difficult because I commute from college to home on the weekends. maybe I can try during the summer holidays, when I stay at home for a longer period.
