Journaling

3 posts in this topic

We already have a subforum dedicated to this. However, there's nothing mightier than the pen.

Sitting on a desk, writing down your thoughts in your own unique way, having them on a piece of paper is way more powerful than just typing on a keyboard.
You create a habit of reviewing your day, planning ahead and monitoring your thoughts. It grants you with a sense of stabilty.
The key here is to be persistent. You have to write even if you don't feel like it. I'd say 4-5 days a week is a pretty good average.
You can also doodle a bit to illustrate your current state of mind. Go back and review some of your earlier writings, see what you achieved, what you didn't and if there are certain emerging patterns.

I've never consistently journaled. I am always not organized when journaling and it seems I am having lots of opinions about lots of things. It feels so arbitrary sometimes.

What I do sometimes though is sit down and do "clarification" work on something that's bothering me.

For example I would clarify why something is important that I'm losing motivation to do and sometimes introspect why I'm doing a particular thing and how to change it.

How organized do you tend to be? I feel like I'm adding questions rather than solve them (I'm sure holding it as a habit doesn't exactly produce this effect).

@Phrae's journaling practices seem to mirror my own, where it's mostly just me brainstorming or mind-mapping things out; was never able to keep up the more normal "diary"-like journaling.
