Am I Open-minded?

How do I know if I am open minded or not?

When I am watching Leo's videos and my ideas contradict with his ideas then does that mean I am closed minded?

How do I know if I am not closed minded?

@Anirban657  If I told you everything you think you know is wrong and that all your opinions are irrational and I dispute them one by one. . .

and you don't get pissy about it, then you're open minded.

Do you believe in Aliens and or Intelligent life on other planets?

Do you believe that anything is possible? Ultimately

Are you  always curious?

Do you like trying and learning new things?

Do you respect other peoples beliefs?

Do you judge a book by its cover?

Race to you is just a color as age is just a number ect..

Those are some questions you can ask yourself :)

you are open-minded if you are aware that your ideas contradict without your own identity being involved.
if your identity is involved in an idea, the other idea will seem like danger to you, and you'll want to cast it away.

If your identity is not involved, the other idea simply seems like the way someone else views the world, and even more, the other idea is not cast away, you still accept this idea as a possibility or a resource in the future.

better said is like this : ''hmm, I don't agree with this but I understand this is the viewpoint of someone else with their own valid reasons to view it this way.And maybe someday I will actually agree with this idea or I will use it in my own personal way so I'm not judging it.''

the bad way is : ''hm, I don't agree with this, this idea is bad, and I completely reject it!I'm right''

everything is relative...if you imagine leo's spirit in a hundred years most of his current ideas will make sense to him or they will be obsolete as he will have evolved so much.
the ideas are good for now, one must be always be ready to accept new ideas and beliefs.

Being exposed to ideas, concepts and opinions that are different, even opposite of our own and how we react in being exposed to them will indicate how open minded we are. The mind by it's nature doesn't want to accept different even though it is very interested in different, meaning it won't accept different by brute force of imposing on it but through it curiously examining the different it will adopt some of the different, the part that fits in with it's already existing paradigm.

So even though we may attempt to cultivate a disposition of being open to the different and in our awareness we are intentionally being open to it our mind may still continue to react to the different in the way that it has evolved to be predisposed to behave. It will take repeated and consistent intention in being open through our awareness for the mind to eventually reflect that pattern... to become open to and act impulsively in that "different" openness we are intentionally exercising in our awareness.

I can tell you some things that help me determine....for the most part I am generally open-minded, but I often really suck too.... there are times when my limiting beliefs trick me into thinking I'm open when I'm not, or, make my beliefs seem like serious values that "justify" excluding alternatives...here's what helps me:

with other people...I have to actually fully embody being in another's shoes...I should be able to fully imagine myself AS them... seriously trying to think and feel through their lenses, while trying to ignore all of mine....when it comes to internal thoughts, it's similar...even when you want to dismiss something, you have to force yourself to consider it...it's helpful to really go outside of the box to accomplish this....
