David Goggins is so cool

34 posts in this topic

Yesterday I did intense cardio on the treadmill. Highest incline, high speed. I tried to push myself hard.

Not gonna lie, I notice a tendency in myself that I seem to have this “limit” that I reach, and then I stop. I wanna push past that limit sometime. I will try again soon.

It got me thinking of suffering. How what separates the average from the pro is the ability and willingness to suffer. The king of this topic is the one and only David Goggins. I don’t aim to be like him because he basically has tortured himself (he once ran so hard he got rhabdo and kidney failure, pissing blood, broken feet etc) but he’s still really cool and I think he is the baddest m*cker.

There’s even something spiritual about this. Like I hear about ultrarunners hallucinating while running, seeing all kinds of stuff. It’s almost psychedelic. Maybe there’s something to it. Like David Goggins said here he “unlocked another part of the human mind”:

That’s a good mindset, it makes you approach life by setting challenges and enjoying pushing through them. It’s like a game. Gamify everything. But I might be twisting it a bit from Goggins perspective who is a little too pride oriented.

You would love the anime called Naruto. Its all About breaking limits and never giving up.

How is this post just me acting out my ego in the usual ways? Is this post just me venting and justifying my selfishness? Are the things you are posting in alignment with principles of higher consciousness and higher stages of ego development? Are you acting in a mature or immature way? Are you being selfish or selfless in your communication? Are you acting like a monkey or like a God-like being?

Also watch Nate and Nick Diaz fights, those guys train triathletes and marathons when they're not training for fights and they never give up and are constantly out working the other opposition. They are black belts in Brazilian jiu-jitsu under Cesar Gracie and they have phenomenal boxing skills with superhuman endurance

That show would indeed test your limits, with over 700 episodes to watch

I love marathons too, actually running outside is my preferred hobby!

Yes but it's useless; it's a narcissistic fun.

Having children, demonstrating to protect social rights, being part of a political party, having your own business or your own passion, all these are tangible things.

I respect the man. But cool? Nah. He's like anti-cool

Although, I have to admit, I appreciate his antics. He's giving big fuck-you energy. But the man has absolutely no chill whatsoever.

All things are chained and entwined together, all things are in love; if ever you wanted one moment twice, if ever you said: ‘You please me, happiness! Abide, moment!’ then you wanted everything to return!” - Friedrich Nietzsche

Goggins is a fucking menace.

He is barely sweating as a 50 years old with a broken body and fucked up knees, while the pro mma fighter is on the verge of death and throwing up from the intensity of the workout

I was being a little funny in my post but yea it’s a good mindset. I’ve been working on my mindset recently.

I don’t know if Goggins is pride oriented

That sounds like a cool anime

I’m impressed by such strong mindset. I feel very weak at times

Someone less extreme with a more positive, chill attitude which I admire, if not more than David, is Courtney Dauwalter. She is considered by some to be one of the best ultra runners in the world

I like her vibe. No wonder she's good at marathons, she has a "fallen" energy; in her facial expressions, the way she plays with her hand while talking, etc.

She seems to have an easy time dissociating, and therefore to sustain prolonged efforts.

If you see what i mean.

Whatever you’re doing keep it up. This is the right direction.

Now time to lift the HEAVY

What is fallen energy ? I love her

Id have to disagree there speaking from my experience of intense exercise . So Courtney has the ability to go very deep into the so called “pain cave”.

What I notice when you exercise is that you get to a certain point of intensity where every single step forward is a struggle. And you require a very strong ~conscious focus~ to be moving yourself forward . So dissociating is not possible there, you need ultra focus. Dissociation I would say is possible when it feels easier to run, when it’s more effortless. Not when it gets REALLY intense

I’ll try to lift the HEAVY

When I was in my teens, I used to lift and could squat and deadlift slightly over 100 kg each at like the age of 16. #flex

Its a cool activity

A big problem with this mindset is the constantly "you're a pussy" self-talk. That's not a happy mindset. It's quite repressed, often.

But depending on the life phase you're at, it may be what digs you out the hole and makes you evolve.
