A fun perspective on death

62 posts in this topic

When you read or work or do something intensely for a while (e.g. a few hours), you sometimes need to a take a little break, and after the break, you come back more fresh, your mind works better, you are more sensitive, and you can keep going.

This is the same logic for having a weekend, but it's just a larger cycle, a larger time horizon (you work for say five days, then you rest for a few days). You also come back more fresh after the weekend, ready for more.

This is the same logic for having a holiday, but again, a larger cycle (you work for most of the year and then take some weeks or months off). Likewise, you come back refreshed after the holiday, ready for more work.

Now, the same logic applies for death, only a larger cycle (you work for a life, then you take a few years off). And likewise, you come back more fresh, ready for more work ☺️ What's more fresh, what mind is more clear, what sensitivity is greater, than a new mind and body?

@Carl-Richard nice . have you been listening to Alan Watts recently? The " what would it feel like to go to sleep and never wake up again " clip? :)

"When you get very serious about truth you accept your life situation exactly as it is. So much so that you aren't childishly sitting around wishing it were otherwise. If you were confined to a wheelchair you would just accept it as how reality is. Just as you now just accept that you are not a bird who can fly."

Cool .then go watch it .you left out that possibility.  You used the holiday analogy but a better analogy is going to sleep and waking up .you literally die everyday when you go sleep then get resurrected and born in the morning .you start your day energised and fresh like a newborn. Then as the hours pass you get tired. Same with your life as you age then you go to bed .same as life you go to the grave .the conclusion then is you'd expect you will be born again .but how the hell do you know that ? Maybe ..just maybe ..when you're dead you're dead and that's it forever.

Going to sleep and waking up is not longer than a holiday 😂 The analogy isn't better, it only highlights a different aspect.

Very interesting discussion from scientists who have studied things like children making past life claims.

@Carl-Richard your epistemology sucks ass .let the whole dam world do all the science and philosophy and spirituality on me Trying convincing me of afterlife whether in the reincarnation sense or the day of judgment sense..and all of that doesn't worth a pinny .

You only discover what death is when you die .

The end .

I wish death was never ending unconsciousness . Imagine all the horrible reincarnations you will go through . Medieval torture machine. And it’s called “unconditional love” . Smh. Fuck this shit. I wanna be dead forever.

I think it's only bad if we don't have a choice in the matter.
some NDE'rs say we choose our next incarnation (but then they're forced to come back so I'm not sure what to make of it).

Who the hell would choose an incarnation with medieval torture machine? So how come that happens? Forced by whom?

Evil inter dimensional beings

Well according to the Gnostics the world is created by an evil Demiurge, and Jesus came to help people escape it.
a lot of new agers will talk about how the white light at death is a trap and you should resist it as much as possible.

How would you explain some of the stories they tell in that discussion if not for past life memories being real? For example, the kid who was a background actor in Hollywood in a past life who was able to point his past self out on a picture, knew his last name and which state he lived in, the age he died, etc.?

I’m sorry but what are gnostics?

Tell me more. That’s so interesting. Why avoid the white light?

Simple .a piece of cake : all of that Is happening in the present moment.  You can't take anything inside the present moment to prove a past ..to prove that the last second even existed .let alone... A " past life ".

Google " LastThursdayism ".

The gnostics were a group of early Christians who wrote the gnostic gospels (not included in the Bible) including the gospel of Thomas and the gospel of Mary Magdalene.

They believed the world was created by a false God called the Demiurge. Jesus was sent by the real God to liberate us from the world created by the Demiurge.

The fact that Buddhists and Gnostics came up with essentially the same idea (Samsara / Demiurge reincarnation trap) , to me, gives the idea some credibility,

I think the idea of avoiding the white light is a new age spinoff of Gnosticism . I think it started with Robert Monroe (who coined the term out of body experience). During his astral projection trips he met an entity who told him that Earth is a "Loosh farm" (basically soul energy) created by demonic entities . I think some other people who had NDE's came up with the idea of avoiding the white light, some of them had met entities on the other side who told them that the white light is the entrance to the "soul trap" imprisoning us on Earth.

You didn't answer the question and now you seem to be talking about something else. At no point did I talk about "absolutely proving" anything. I asked you for an alternative explanation for what the boy said.

The one thing I have to say about reincanation is that it is not a given that you will come back as a human! Or that you come back to earth! You could reincarnate as a fish on a planet made 100% of water in another galaxy! I'm 100% sure this would be the case if reîncarnation is indeed happening after death, because god doesn't have a favourite species! Also you could reincarnate as a plant! God is too infinite to only reincarnate himself only in one species like humans! God has no human bias or agenda!

He is the most controversial because he can be anything right 😅the most horrible things (me thinking negatively ofc) but to be honest as a child I would fear eternity
