If you couldn't find psychedelics or do meditation, how could you reach awakening?

43 posts in this topic

I can't find psychedelics, and I have real problems with doing something I don't like , like meditation(it's literally impossible for me to do something that isn't interesting to my brain).

I can do contemplation but lately it doesn't lead me anywhere, it just wears me down. Should I quit and no longer suffer from my desire to understand things better or there are other ways?

It seems on a relative level. Psychedelics in particular and meditation do something in the brain, to the self structure, that increases the likelihood of mystical experience. So if you’re not gonna do either it’s gonna be hard to have it. It could happen spontaneously but it’s very small chance, it seems for an extremely small percentage it can happen spontaneously.

Just follow your passion and you will evolve through that in your own unique way.

Imagine for a moment, dear friends, that you are Conciousness, and that you have only this one awareness - that you are at peace, and that you are.

It might not lead to awakening but I think it can be good path regardless

I think simply living life alone is enough to grow. It's just an inevitable part of life. Just focus on not dying is enough, haha.

It can grow you if you struggle to be alone and you don’t wanna face your internal world. But yea growth happens regardless in life, it’s then a matter of finding methods to increase it if you want that. But yea you could live simple too, that’s a way of life that can bring peace. I’ve lived quite simple recently and I like it

I mean it takes a lot to go through life. People should be proud of themselves just because they have made it this far and are still alive.

Cannabis.

Meditating on cannabis can sometimes feel like a psychedelic experience.

It's legal in many places + easy to obtain.

Harm can be minimized if using a dry herb vaporizer or edibles, and keeping use sparse.

You could do sober practise. Meditation, contemplation, concentration, visualisation, stimulation of yogic pranic energy up and down your spine. Third eye concentration, prayer, mantra. You are spoiled for sober practises.

Also, awakening is very very difficult, if you build your strength doing these practises for a few years then save and move to somewhere where you can find some psychs, boom. Your sorted.

This is actually exactly what I'm doing. I might even go as far to say that your more likely to awaken if you do this as opposed to jumping head first into psychedelics. Jumping head first into psychedelics can often result in uncalibrated ego backlash. Like you could scare yourself so much because you're so under prepared that you might not even go near psychedelics again for the next 10 years. Slow and steady  wins the race.

You can also check out non-chemically induced psychedelic experiences. There is an app called lumenate that can give you a soft sober psychedelic experience. You've also got sensory deprivation tanks where you can float in. You could also try hollotropic breathwork and research other "somatic" techniques that induce altered states. Also while this might not be advised technically alcohol alters consciousness therefore it can technically be used... But it's obviously extremely unhealthy and addictive and a carcinogen.

I personally recommend trying to find some other people who are interested in this perhaps like Buddhists or some Hindu yoga teachers are sometimes good. Having a physical community will make it a lot easier than trying to loan wolf... Nobody can do that. We always depend on others. You can't have running water without plumbers, you can't have vegetables to eat without farmers, you wouldn't have a car or a phone without engineers and scientists. I would argue that it's a similar case with awakening, even all the information you read... Those books are written by somebody. So get yourself involved with some good people, this will ground and potentiate your journey whether it be to awakening or simply attaining happiness and fullfilment in a quieted mind.

I work in the inverse. Daily use is my norm, and missing a day is basically me taking it

Just looked up at the word inverse, and assumed it meant something else. Looks like I'm using it the right way for me. Don't take what I'm saying as advice, my ways are not for the masses.

One time several years ago I spontaneously asked myself “where is the self” and for a brief moment it was like I couldn’t locate myself it was kinda cool. I’m not sure if that was what happened but who knows.

Just asked myself now, and it made perfect sense to me.

Awakening doesn't have to be some crazy magical mushroom state, it can be as simple as knowing that you are all the voices in the room. This is not mental illness.

This is just one facet / example

How deeply do you desire to Awaken? It all depends on how much you desire it. If you truly need it, you likely won't be able to let it go — and could consider less convenient options to reach your goal, such as traveling.

You need to get clear on the strength and depth of your desire.

You could also let it all go for a while if you're unsure, to see what happens and how you feel. If it's very important to you, it will surface again.

I don't think there are easy ways to do this work, which is why the sincerity of your desire matters so much.
