Guys wtf is going on in the US? I just checked Trump's official online store for merchandise and there are MAGA hats and t shirts where it says Trump 2028!!! How is that possible? I mean did the republicans pass a law for 3rd term allowance? Are they going to do so in the near future? Since when the US became Russia? It was like 12 months ago when you had a functional democracy, now you are turning into a banana republic! How was possible that the promoters of checks and balances were totally dismantled in 100 days? Only the Austrian painter in 1933 Germany managed to wipe the floor with democracy faster than your incumbent president is doing!

I'm so disillusioned with American politics at this, that if Trump went the Xí Jinping and Putin route and abolished term limits, then I genuinely wouldn't be surprised. And of course, his fanbase and crackpots in the media would defend him to the bitter end.

It isn’t legally possible. I’m pretty sure he’s going to get crushed at the mid terms and decline further after so I doubt he’ll have the political capital to pull it off or the energy given his age. It’s probably trolling to distract the media from the tariffs and failure to stop the Ukraine war.

They will try, he literally incited a riot and tried to overthrow the results of 2020, his own former VP hates him, Trump told him not to certify the election. And Republican congress rolled over. Of course he will try to do this again. The entire party is vying to take over as a dictatorship. The public is so delusional and apathetic they have no way to understand how serious that is for US democracy.

But where are the so called checks and balances? Also why the US is a presidential republic, where the president is having almost dictatorial powers? Such power concentrated in the hands of one man is almost surely going to lead to dictatorship. What I am surprised is that it didn't happen sooner.

The Constitutional checks and balances are being shredded as we speak, and the adults who reigned in Trump during his first term are GONE.

Why would anyone outside of the Cult think that this is anything other than a declaration of intent, when we've seen how Trump's 'joke' about being a dictator on day one is playing out.

Less than 100 days in and Americans are being sent to a CONCENTRATION CAMP in El Salvador in open defiance of the Supreme Court, for fuck's sake.

He plans to put Elon Musk in charge of overseeing elections. So, I wouldn't count on a free and fair election.

Plus, there are voter suppression laws where ordinary citizens can say "This person looks suspicious. They should be thrown off the voter roles".

So, there were millions of voters that were purged from the voter roles in the 2024 election that were mostly from minority communities because of regular citizens being able to wield that power.

And I have no doubt that it will be worse in 2025 because Trump is actually holding the levers of  power. He will likely just try to remain in power as a dictator until he dies.

That Trump is a dangerous person the whole world knew even before being re-elected! What is staggering is the speed at which he dismantled and torn apart the American Democracy which here on Europe was deemed as the best democracy on earth during the Obama era! How was this possible? He did more damage in 100 days than he did in the entire first term of his! It feels like he has no opposition, the democrats seem to have been blown off the water, the judicial power is stunned too! From Europe it looks like the congress is powerless to stop him, and that the judicial power is fearful of him! So the checks and balances are basically rendered completely useless! From Europe it feels like your Judges are fearful of not being deported too to El Salvador if they put up too much resistance!
