●So I want to start a one person business, about writing novels, but I'm afraid it won't work out, i don't see so many people making courses about novel writing, especially those who aren't published, or even know basic grammar, I've been struggling with grammar and vocabulary, and I haven't been doing the work to improve, because I hate spaced repetition and I find grammar boring.

●giving up writing is not an option.

I'm thinking of specializing in something else for the business, like self development or anything else, but I won't let go of writing novels.

○ I want to keep this short, and I really appreciate your advice, and many thanks for reading this.

Learning to write is very simple. You pick a book whose style you love, you sit down, you analyze how each sentence and paragraph is written, and then you do exercises to mirror that style, one sentence at a time. You keep doing this until you master that style. Then you can do that with other books and styles. Then you can invent your own unique hybrid style.

Yes, it is tedious but that's your chosen job. All jobs are tedius in the end.

Stephen King: On Writing

Chuck Palahniuk: Consider This

Best two books on creative writing I have ever read. Palahniuk in particular is amazing.

Master writing short stories before doing novels. Publishers will do a lot to promote the hot new author on the block - so don't let that first break be a pile of shit.

Would this translate also to other domains? For example doing videos or performance?

In many cases it should transfer.

All art is learned through conscious imitation.

Filmmaking, game making, music making, painting, drawing, poetry, scultping, architecture, martial arts, dance, acting, cartooning, public speaking, rapping, etc.

You start by imitating work you love, work that inspires you.

For example, I imitated Vernon Howard, Owen Cook, and Eben Pagan with my speaking until I found my own style.

@Curious_classic Are you planning on writing novels in a second language? Have you written short stories or novels before?

Also I'm not sure I understand your problem. Is it content creation, like YouTube videos? Or are you unsure about the whole endeavor? Or do you just want to get better at writing?
