People who encounter Jesus

I hear it very often that people encounter Jesus. It is often just before an attempt to suicide or some emotional crises. I don’t judge them and there is probably some truth to it. They usually find unconditional love but it comes with a lot of spiritual baggage and dogmas. Today I encountered a lady who experienced that. And at the core she was very nice but she was kind of rigid when it came down to her beliefs about original sin and Jesus as the sole savior. I was thinking why do Muslims never encounter their prophet? Or Buddhist ? Only certain Christians seem to encounter their savior? Which is peculiar.

If it’s the case that people of all religions encounter their prophets then that could mean that spiritual beings can manifest in different forms so maybe there’s something spiritual but it’s not a specific religion but it manifests in all of them

Buddhists do, it's just in a more specific contexts. Like if you're meditating in a temple and you have a vision of a golden buddha or something.

But that means those ideas, that imagery, was seared into your mind from a very early age.

So it makes a lot of sense.

The earliest layers of your mind are soaked in Christian imagery, even if you hate it. Those early layers are very difficult to remove. You are deeply biased towards them.

In the Philippines, during Holy Week, hardcore Catholic devotees engage in self-flagellation, where they whip themselves with bamboo sticks or other implements, as a way to atone for sins and re-enact Christ's suffering. I watched it close from inside of a van, and I could see the blood stains on our windows.

American conservatives could never. They’re a bunch of cowards compared to this. If they had integrity they would ban drag shows and replace it with the above. And they should be the ones being whipped.

Krishna devotees see things also. It's actually everywhere. But usually happens more for devotional type. The problem is their testimonies are not very reliable because they are not very rational people usually. But some things like Mary apparitions can be verified and have been witnessed sometimes by thousands of people at once. Those events are really something.
