Why Are We Here?

15 posts in this topic

I think, at the most fundamental level, we’re all searching for truth. We’re seeking to unravel what’s real, what’s important, and what is the nature of our experience. In an age of so much distraction and surface-level knowledge, spaces like actualize.org help us carve out time to reflect deeply and connect with others who are on a similar path of questioning and awakening. I was thinking about this while doing laundry 🧺

My main question is I don't understand why the material world exist if there is a spiritual world with endless possibilities without suffering and limitation, is it so fun to be a limited, weak and suffering human?

Infinity includes both material and spiritual.

@LordFall Yes its like dark souls. There is a line of souls from sun to earth  waiting to play. If you play videos games why play dark souls? So you can show off when you are done and you become a better player. Until one day you become a Saint and you can fully understand what a  soul means and how its constructed here in this realm. Then you can play dark souls with 0 fear while everyone else is panicking.

Just to chit chat about cool interesting stuff . Don't kid yourself you're not gonna get Buddhahood here .

"When you get very serious about truth you accept your life situation exactly as it is. So much so that you aren't childishly sitting around wishing it were otherwise. If you were confined to a wheelchair you would just accept it as how reality is. Just as you now just accept that you are not a bird who can fly."

I don’t think we all are searching for truth. Other things we could be after is pleasure, happiness (it’s vague because happiness is tied to objects so we are searching the objects of happiness), love, peace, thrill, Etc. You could frame it differently though. Some non dualists say the self is looking for the end of itself, seeking is seeking the end of seeking, and since there’s no actual self. That is the truth, so in that manner we’re looking/longing for truth. I don’t know if I necessarily agree, becuase we can find happiness even as selves, it’s not all suffering. But I do think we all would want the end of self if we knew how it was, but that we can’t know, because it’s not an experience we can objectify. Bottom line I don’t think we’re all seeking truth in this intellectual manner of questioning, we can seek other things and be content without knowing what reality is

Well this applies to me personally and I can see why Leo says it's a rare thing to just want truth above all else.

I had this same question, my guess is that there is this realm we call Absolute, its non physical, its completeness and oneness and is all about Potentials, but there is no physicality, no way to express anything or experience anything there, but since Potential and Possibility are what Absolute is all about, somewhere there has to be what we call this Earth and Us and everything else in it, so we are that playing out in a Possibility Equation of sorts, so that Absolute can know it self via all of the life forms living now and ever existed Experiences, otherwise it cannot know itself if there is no mechanism to allow Experience and Expression to exist...

@ExploringReality Everything has levels to it, if Your starving hungry and cold, your purpose is to get food and warmth, its goes up the ladder, if Your in an Enlightened state your purpose is not to feed Yourself and get warm, so we humans have different Potentials within Us, our purpose is too explore all these Potentials but go thru it untouched, not ruled by it, as once a Potential or Experience has been passed thru, it becomes the past, if your ruled by the past your not truly alive and present but a slave of sorts, potential can never be realized and expressed while in slave mode...

To explore and evolve, in the simplest sense. Earth gives us a ground for self-exploration. Though, maybe we're actually the Earth getting to know itself! What about the Earth becoming more conscious of itself through its own neurons: human beings? There could be infinite ways for God to know and explore itself, since God is infinite.

We're so ignorant of everything as human beings… it's actually a very interesting experience to have. To figure it all out on our own with such a small window of consciousness is quite a crazy design.
