DOGE Is Not Cutting Government Spending

16 posts in this topic

I'm posting this because even I had misconceptions about DOGE.

"Yeah, they're cutting essential research and firing a lot of people, but, hey, we have to address the soaring national debt"

That was how I thought of DOGE before I learned the truth, that's not what is happening. Federal spending and the national debt is increasing, not decreasing. If Musk and Trump seriously wanted to address the national debt, then they would as well raise taxes combined with reducing spending. This was how Bill Clinton achieved a budget surplus and actually began to pay off the national debt. They would also decrease the military budget, for which they will never do.

DOGE is just an excuse to hurt wokeness.

They will use it to destroy every Green project.

It's not about saving money. It's about killing Green.

@Leo Gura But why the world has such a strong negative response to Green? It is like badly needing a surgical procedure, and instead of having it, you try to kill your doctor!

What has Musk or Trump and all their rich friends to gain from crushing Green? Don't they realize that once they contaminate with their capitalism all the drinking water sources, they won't be able to drink money? I mean how much luxury, how many Yachts does an ego need to feel satisfied? At one point in their life don't they think of helping the poor or caring for their environment? How much Orange do you need to manifest until you exhaust it and start to see its limiations and start to go into Green?

Musk completely fucked his entire public perception, all of his credibility, and decades of brand respect and popularity with regards to Tesla.

All for what? $150 billion in savings? I thought they'd atleast hit the 1 Tril mark and make it sound good. In retrospect that was deeply naive of me to believe. Hasn't Trump just increased the Pentagon spending by a few hundred billion anyway?

Tesla is complete shambles. Hundreds of thousands of work hours, 10s of thousands of employees, not to mention a deeply loyal customer base - completely fucked for absolutely nothing.

I'm not sure the company can recover at all. Maybe if Musk is fired as CEO and the company makes a public separation from him, it might have a good chance.

@Space where are you getting this from? Tesla stock is still up 10% these last 6 months and they have a lot of amazing tech coming like Robotaxi and Optimus robot. Be careful listening to vocal minority and not looking at the fundamentals.

Elon musk is still one of the best performing industrialists and business leaders of all time. He may embody the shadow of state orange but he is the peak of it as well. He’s a once in a generation type of mind.

@LordFall Even so, Telsa is insanely overvalued.

It's a meme stock, disconnected from sound fundamentals.

They are cutting intellectual people and workers necessary to keep the government functioning well or in other words people who would make it difficult to take over the government or people who would get in the way of corruption.

I'm not really referencing or talking about the stock. And trust me I know where the stock is. I've been a TSLA investor for over a decade. I've lived off the TSLA hype and over-valuation for a long time.

I've always been sceptical of the Optimus robot. The demos are trash compared to the Boston Dynamics robots, for example. We're decades and decades away from it even being vaguely useful imo.

Nor am I arguing that Musk is not a great capitalist and businessman. Obviously he is.

I'm saying that the public perception of Musk and Tesla is completely ruined. He is now a neo-Nazi and will always be one. There is no coming back from this. Tesla is now a neo-Nazi funded company. At best, people just associate Musk/Tesla with Trump.

Who's gonna' buy a Tesla now? Sales have plummeted. Genuinely tragic.

Not necessarily. If he gets out of politics and just focuses on building good products then I think people will stop caring and buy his products again.

The real issue with Tesla is not Musk's politics but lack of good new products. Cybertruck was a mistake. Robotaxi seems like an iffy idea. Robots is a killer idea but many years from having the AI software needed for them to work. And Tesla is hugely overvalued at it is.

That's a fair point and maybe the only chance Musk or Tesla as a company have to rebuild the brand reputation.

Atleast SpaceX was sort of ignored by most of the protests and not really discussed in the news. Atleast from what I saw.

The Cybertruck was definitely a mistake. It should have been a special limited release, rather than carving out a whole section of the Austin factory to make a permanent production line, and god knows how many other resources.

Saying that, the new Model Y looks fantastic. The new Roadster is in production apparently, but it'll be mega expensive.

It's overvalued relative to the entire market. But it's a different conversation when we look at it relative to the electric car market and the projections for how that will grow in the future. Tesla also owns the only half-decent FSD software.

The question now is how quickly will China make their own FSD, for a fraction of the price. And what impact will that have on Tesla's current advantage.

I don't think Tesla can compete with China. The only reason Tesla survives is because of 100% tariffs on Chinese autos.

The Cybertruck should have been this:

If Tesla made a pickup like that it would be a blockbuster. But Musk's ego got in the way with his crazy, over-priced design.

Pickup trucks need to be simple, utilitarian, and affordable.

A huge opportunity was missed.

Alternative perspective here. Its a complex issue actually .Maybe it wouldn't be a good idea. This dude knows his sh*t

@mmKay Top comment on that video:

“The same can be said about a lot of people who buy these big trucks. They never use it for its intended purpose. It’s more of a status symbol than something they use for towing or hauling.”
