Trump Administration Sending People To Prison in El Salvador

I think more people should talk about this. Everybody is freaking out about tariffs but this is actually insane if you think about it. They are just grabbing people with little to no research, no trial, and deporting them to a foreign country to be imprisoned for life, probably (or die much sooner). And its not even doing it to people who migrated from Salvador. I've just read a news story about a guy from VENEZUELA who was waiting for the court to clear his asylum claim, but was sent to El Salvador, without any trial:

Quote

When Andry failed to appear at his second hearing, the immigration judge wanted to know why the government wasn’t making him available. “He was removed to El Salvador,” the ICE lawyer replied. “We just found out today.” This surprised the judge, who was there to determine whether or not Andry should be deported. “How can he be removed to El Salvador,” the judge asked, “if there’s no removal order?”"

How does this make any sense? Imagine committing no crime and then being sent to a prison in a foreign country that you have nothing to do with, for life, basically. This is so messed up.

This is just a complete disregard for the rule of law and any idea of human rights. This is something that some 3rd world African country would do. How is it possible that the US just plunged to that kind of level of development just because of the change in president? Shouldn't there be more checks and balances to prevent this kind of stuff no matter how retarded the president is?

Nothing surprising about it.

I will be surprised when they start just kidnapping their political critics.

It's important to be direct when we're discussing this. If there was ever a time to ditch sanitized language, it's now. Plain and simple, this is state repression - dictator shit that's meant to get us to obey in advance.

(Not saying that you're doing this OP, but some are going to try and sanitize this - don't let them).

Trump isn't deporting these people - they aren't being sent back to their country of origin.

They're being abducted by ICE and sent to a concentration camp in El Salvador.

This isn't immigration policy, it's state repression meant to terrify dissenters into silence. ICE isn't protecting our borders, they're being used as Trump's gestapo to disappear people.

Because people, and thus the world, every connection or relation you have in your mind toward anything, is out of balance into authoritarianism and capitalism.

Isn't this already the case? He's deporting Palestinian protestors. I consider that as being kidnapped for political criticism, even though it is not directly towards Trump. Even now, Trump's lackeys are implying that anyone criticizing America could be deported, although it is yet to be done.

That being said, Trump is already a dictator. A country does not turn into a dictatorship overnight. A dictator is just a clinical narcissist with a large span of control. If you look at the things that Trump said, and if you assumed he would act on them if he was given the freedom to do so, America would 100% turn into a complete dictatorship. NPD is the pathology of dictatorship and cultism. Cults and dictatorships are what you get when someone with NPD has a wide span of control, like over a group or country.

Trump outright ignoring SCOTUS:

This one is hitting me harder than anything else that has happened so far. More than all the shameless grifting, DOGE BS, tariff madness, criminal pardons, deportation theatre, attacks on DEI, attacks on free press and whatever else. This is the one.

They could bring this guy back in a heartbeat. A guy with a family who committed no crime. And they’re just not going to do it.

More than that, I have every expectation that they will go after anyone who tries to bring him back. This, like everything in Trump world, is now a loyalty test. That’s authoritarianism.

Yes, it's going to get a lot more unhinged. We've only seen the tip of the depravity.

I saw some Google Satelite Images of El Salvador Camp today with some blood stains in one of the areas. Of course is rumors but also maybe not.

JL with some good commentary on this:

I first found this guy because he was doing funny Trump impressions. But then I saw that he actually had some very intelligent political takes, which surprised me.

Turns out, he actually graduated from law school and worked as an assistant district attorney before turning to comedy full time.

Interesting guy.

Do you guys think they killed him?

Someone needs to travel and check on him.  It seems Maryland Senator Van Hollen is flying out to El Salvador to check on him tomorrow and figure out a process to get him back.

Insane incompetence with this administration.   We told you so.

It's definitely possible.

The guy was on a withholding order due to threat of violence if he was deported. He could have easily been killed in prison.

The atrocities that Trump's regime wants to commit requires the complicity or indifference of ordinary people. If sending American citizens to literal concentration camps isn't worth having difficult conversations with friends and family who are tuned out of politics, then nothing is.

Call a spade a spade - MAGA is our version of the Nazis, and Trump is intentionally destroying our country from within for the benefit of billionaire oligarchs and Vladimir Putin.

But fortunately, America isn't 1939 Germany - Trump's regime is weak and unpopular, and if you have any amount of social privilege the costs of resisting are quite low compared to what it could become if we throw in the towel just a few months in out of apathy and exhaustion

'Not being interested in politics' isn't an excuse anymore - if you ever wondered what you might have done in 1930s Germany or the Civil Rights Movement, you're doing it now.

Fortunately, there are plenty of different avenues to join the pro-democracy movement. Attend a protest or a town hall. Call your reps using the 5calls app. Find your local Indivisible group and attend a meeting.

In short - less souls searching, more instrumental engagement.

Find a way to be integrate civic engagement into your life. Find a group to work with, and make good trouble.

@DocWatts just found this podcast today. This is amazing study material.

Robert Evans certainly has the chops to know what he's talking about. He's a journalist who's written extensively about online extremism and global conflict, and knows how to present these topics in an approachable way.
