Can you get crazy from philosophy?

13 posts in this topic

I try to understand paradoxes and reality so much that my mind starts to hurt. I have gone to a point that I start to feeling sad , I feel like I am diving in darkness metaphorically speaking. It has become an unhealthy obssesion. I can't stop it, I was born a deeply curious person. Whenever I tried to stop for some years I always felt something missing and went back to philosophy to understand it. When I don't try to understand reality I feel something is missing, whenever I try to understand reality I see only paradoxes and I am getting angry and sad. I hate paradox, why does it even exist? Meditation in order not to think of any question doesn't help me, it just makes the thoughts go away for some time and then I just feel bad that I don't understand reality. I plan to do psychedelics in the future but I can't do them all the time, only when I will travel abroad which I will do in 1 or 2 years but the problem is that even people that do psychedelics say things like ''reality is a paradox'' or ''this or that thing is a paradox''. How can paradox exist I don't get it? I am really angry at paradoxes. How can some things have no answers? How can reality defy logic?

I want to understand why some things are illogical, paradoxical, how reality exists. But when I try to contemplate my mind gets hurt, my psychology goes down. When I try to search it online (cause I have never found anyone that cares in real life), I find nothing.

I am like a rat in a wheel. I try to find something that seems like it doesn't exist and then I try to find why something that exists has no reason to exist. I can't be the only one that feels like that. I am so dissapointed. If I stop searching I feel bad, If I search I feel bad. It makes me crazy I hate it.

My purpose in life is to understand reality. This is not a game to me, this is what I live for. It's a game only in the sense that it's extremely exciting (it was at least till  paradoxes and dead ends had to appear). I don't care that society doesn't care about reality. I personally, individualy do with all my heart. If I don't understand reality I feel like nothing else matters that much. Have you ever felt like that? How can I feel better cause I need to relax a little?

Have you ever solve paradoxes?

You issue is likely you're trying to reconcile paradox through logic and reason alone, that is doomed to fail. The interface you're using is too limited, it's like trying to divide by zero on a calculator. Any number times zero yields zero, so the result is undefined, it is infinity that can't be displayed on a finite instrument. Fundamentally paradox is rooted in duality – "this thing contradicts that thing". There's different kinds of paradoxes (more simplistic/linguistic ones like Theseus's ship or the heap, through even those have a deep meaning), and the existential ones that you solve by becoming directly conscious of God. How can God be everything and nothing at the same time? How come an omnipotent God can't stop being itself? How are stupidity and laziness actually manifestations of an infinite intelligence? When it all collapses into One, there's no more conflict, nothing to resolve, though not in a simplistic nondual way where it's just an infinite indistinct field, you can hold both in your consciousness and see how they're two sides of the same coin, which is oh so very beautiful. Paradox must exist because reality is Infinite, as per Russell's paradox it's a set of all sets that contains itself.

I feel you on the need to understand reality. Sometimes you get lost and frustrated and self-deceived, but the call is still there. If the current approaches aren't working, try changing them. Hope that helped a bit and good luck.

Whichever way you turn, there is the face of God

Yes it has made people insane. It has to do with God and logic. If you are hyper logical you will loop and loop in your mind without finding an answer.

Insanity is good.

True Insanity is the Goal of Philosophy

The path of the logical mind is a circular one; it won't take you anywhere. The logical mind is something you've learned; it's limited. The only way is to completely break through your mental and energetic barriers and expand without limits. From this expansion, the mind can create new structures that are in tune with reality, but what the logical mind can't do is contain reality, since the logical mind is contained in the reality

Ever heard of someone going "loopy" (see urban dictionary definition).

Yeah, well our literal aim to to become loopy:

:)

Listen to this...

Play this loudly and Let the beautiful transient melody flow gracefully over the mind, dismembering itself piece by piece, devouring the logic that so permeates the typical state. Lose a grasp on why it is here become familiar with that which is not understood. Let it force itself inside you, destroying your mind and eating your breakfast:

@Never_give_up I totally feel you on that .

I've wrestled with existential questions since I Was 14 yo trying to figure out life through philosophy. To some healthy degree philosophy is needed .but at some point you just have to smoke that damn DMT(which I haven't yet like you ) and drop philosophy.

Can you go crazy from too much philosophy? Yea that might very well be the case ..Because all  philosophical questions can only come after you wake up/become conscious. You waking up/becoming conscious is the beginning to everything. Like Big Bang.

"When you get very serious about truth you accept your life situation exactly as it is. So much so that you aren't childishly sitting around wishing it were otherwise. If you were confined to a wheelchair you would just accept it as how reality is. Just as you now just accept that you are not a bird who can fly."

Pursuit of wisdom is the escape from madness not the road to madness.

Imagine for a moment, dear friends, that you are Conciousness, and that you have only this one awareness - that you are at peace, and that you are.

You need to start with smaller problems/questions before you try to grasp the ultimate nature of reality.

Start with smaller, more grounded questions which you can experience immediate success with by having genuine insights.

Over years the small insights will accumulate and open doors to deeper insights.

Make sure you keep your philosophy grounded to direct experience. Investigate and make observations about the workings of your own mind.

Here's an assingment to get you started on the right track:

Observe and categorize every function of your own mind. What are all the things your mind does or can do?

Don't speculate. Observe it and write them down. Make philosophy more like science you do on yourself.

Ultimate reality is so radical that it cannot be understood from your normal state of consciousness. A change in state is required. Smaller questions don't require a change in state.

You are God. You are Truth. You are Love. You are Infinity.

This is such an important point.

God-Realize, this is First Business. Know that unless I live properly, this is not possible.

There is this body, I should know the requirements of my body. This is first duty.  We have obligations towards others, loved ones, family, society, etc. Without material wealth we cannot do these things, for that a professional duty.

There is Mind; mind is tricky. Its higher nature should be nurtured, then Mind becomes Wise, Virtuous and AWAKE. When all Duties are continuously fulfilled, then life becomes steady. In this steady life GOD is available; via 5-MeO-DMT, because The Sun shines through All: Living in Self-Love, Realizing I am Infinity & I am God
