Bicameral Mind. Or How the People in Bronze Age had a different Consciousness

8 posts in this topic

Well before anyone bring Objections. I think that by " Origin of Consciousness " The author was not refering to Consciousness as Leo talks about but as Consciousness as the way Modern man have.

So, we assume people on Greek Times or Egipt times had the same way of Thinking we have.

This work deals with the possibility of no, they didn't.

The beggining of the video is very elucidative

I think this is excellent. I had come across this before, but I only superficially took on the significance of this. If the theory is right, then ancient people went about their lives in a fundamentally different way from us. Everything is very "external" and physical for them. It puts accounts like the burning bush in the bible into the correct context.

Also it kind of puts the modern phenomenon of grey aliens with big eyes talking telepathically to you into some sort of context too. I like the way the guy in the video talks about the large eyes on statues as a way to engage the right brain and encourage the voices, it's very intriguing.

I do wonder if spiritually gifted people are naturally more right brain dominant and get communications and visions for that reason - they are more bicamerally minded.

The idea of ancient humans not experiencing the voice in their heads as their own is fascinating. Like to them, it's the voice of some kind of spirit or something. It seems like a very physical life and a sort of in-between of what we have now and animals.

Its kindve like, the literal nature of a time before us. I was hoping for it to be about, what its like for ppl to have to face consciousness at more repetitive, regular intervals, since reality is more defined on those terms—like if they do something wrong, it is the fault of a god—but then you have to wonder what that god really meant (what is "that god"), after graduating from your mother or fathers basis for it, or whoever is there peers—and to then have everything as the living embodiment of a consciousness-like instance, i mean... Theres only logical components that we later can say wouldve been correct, but thats the only thing you can say, like obviously ppl of history are gonna be weak in those regards, the interesting book is where their conscious strengths are, and thats in the nuances of who they are individually. I had GreekMythology in highschool,so maybe for me i just thought about it more.
