I need help reconnecting with God

Hello there. I'll be honest with you, I haven't been connected with God in a while. Back from 2020 to 2023, I was pretty connected, but unfortunately I ended up with an episode of schizophrenia that got bad enough to require the implementation of antipsychotics. I have to stay on my medication for now because those schizophrenic episodes were unmanageable-- when I say I had schizophrenia, I mean that I was hearing voices and interacting with demons and having false memories and thinking there were dark conspiracies against me. Continuing to believe in God has helped get me through the schizophrenia and antipsychotic side effects, but I'd say that I believe in it rather than experience it for myself.

I don't have the money for psychedelics right now, but when I used to connect with God the most was when I would do shrooms while I was still living with my mom. My frequent psychedelic usage led to some pretty solid God experiences being achieved even without psychedelics, and it became an almost consistent thing that I interacted with every day. Nowadays, my spirituality has gone stale and I can't access the creativity I used to get from having God experiences. How do I reconnect with God? Talk about what keeps God in your life and how you interact with it on a daily basis.

Hardcore meditation retreats.

You need to transition away from the psychedelic crutch eventually anyway. You don't want your connection to God so dependent on an external force.

What's also very helpful is just replaying those memories in your mind. The memories alone can be a powerful way to get you in touch with God right now. It's better than reading scripture or listening to humans.

You are God. You are Truth. You are Love. You are Infinity.

Thanks, Leo. What do you do other than meditation to maintain your relationship with God on a daily basis? Or is it more effortless than that at this point?

Your post suggests You understand God to be elsewhere, I don't like to use the word "God" as it implies many different things, lets say Absolute, there is no separation between what is You and Absolute, its just that You are here in Manifested Embodied form, and have lots of Karma in play, Conditioning, that is making You focus on more of the Body or Mind, or Emotions than on what You really are..

Meditation, or Sadhana (Spiritual practices) for sure will get You back intouch with what You are, there is no Separation on this level, only on the Body and Mind level is there any sort of Separation, but we are not the Body or Mind, get intouch with what You are and then Your there, which is the whole goal of Spirituality...

Find a method that works for You, stick with it, don't focus totally on Absolute/God, just focus on what it is that your lacking right now, focus on what is limiting You and get rid of your Limitations, one by one, then Absolute will automatically come into Your Awareness and Experience naturally, the Sadhana just gets rid of the obstacles!!

Karma Means "Life is my Making", I am 100% responsible for my Inner Experience. -Sadhguru..."I don''t want Your Dreams to come True, I want something to come true for You beyond anything You could dream of!!" - Sadhguru

I've taken so many psychedelics and understood God so clearly that the entire room I'm sitting in is God. I just sit and admire God.

God is the room you're sitting in. Just keep returning your consciousness to it.

God has nothing to do with thinking. This time be more cautious of mind, Anything you hear in your head is not it and its trying to sabotage you.God means everything is ok and you dont have to think anymore, if you see God and think that everything is out to get you you are wrong somewhere.

God is Existence, the wish to re-connect assumes your existence is split from God or that God is split from God. Are your Body moving well now?are you breathing, seeing, feeling, farting, talking, shitting, orgasming, suffering pain, enjoying food,music...experiencing whatever you are experiencing? So look in the Mirror and say Hi to God. Go to sleep, and whatever you dream say Hi to God. God is inescapable.

Of course thinking is God. But this requires high consciousness to understand. Getting lost in selfish thoughts is not what I'm refering to.

This the same you'd recommend when it comes to devine creativity? That's the aspect of God I "miss" most in normal waking life.

I had a trip once where I experienced God as a singularity which spawned one perfect idea after the other in rapid succession. Quite the cheat code for an artist.

There's not really room during a hardcore retreat to indulge in creativity.

However, I notice that I get crazy creativity about 3-4 days into a retreat. You could design a kind of retreat specifically for creativity, but that's different than a meditation retreat. Try both and see which one suits you better.

It would be interesting to see what comes out of a mound of clay, or whatever medium after 3-4 days of meditation. Something to convey the insight in manifest form.

I get all sorts of powerful new business ideas and art project ideas in the middle of a retreat. It's quite frustrating because you're not supposed to focus on them when you're meditating. But you could really flesh those visions out. It's powerful way to hone your life purpose.

What kind of techniques and parameters would you start off with here?

I think that would vary a lot from person to person. You need to find what makes you feel most creative.

For me, about 5 days of nonstop meditation makes me very creative. So I'd start with that. Just force yourself to sit and do nothing all day long. Eventually your mind will start to fill the void with creative thoughts.

Would you do that over formal techniques like labeling? Don't wanna be too nitpicky just haven't done a solo retreat yet and don't want to torture myself in vain lol.

I recommend monasticism or a Clinic. Its like a permanent intense meditation retreat.

Formal technique is important to not waste your retreat lost in monkey mind.

You need 4-5 days of formal just to get your mind into a good space. Then you could ease off on it and experiment.

@Leo Gura How do you handle the frustration when creative thoughts or profound new insights come to mind, but you need to continue meditating and have to let them go? This is a very challenging aspect of meditation.
