When the Mirror Isn’t Flattering, the Teacher Looks Away

8 posts in this topic

There’s a type of hypocrisy that isn’t loud.

It hides behind silence.

Behind intellectual prestige.

Behind platforms that preach nuance—until nuance starts reflecting back at them.

I was recently part of a conversation where the leader—brilliant, insightful, often right—dodged a subtle but important callout.

He said:

“Don’t speak hard truths to women.”

Then proceeded to do just that, harshly, repeatedly.

When I pointed it out—not with anger, but clarity—there was no response. Not even a rejection. Just silence.

And then the crowd did what crowds do.

Labeled. Mocked. Meme’d.

Not because I was wrong, but because I respected women without needing to dominate them.

Because I didn’t play the expected role.

Because I became inconvenient.

This post isn’t about blame.

It’s about the subtle violence of systems that say “seek truth”

—but only if the truth flatters the structure.

I want integrity. Not perfection. Not agreement. Just the willingness to live by the same standards being taught.

@yetineti Keep in mind this was in the context of dating women, not in the context of talking to women on a forum. So the phrase "don't speak hard truths to women" wasn't intended to be taken universally. If he doesn't speak hard truths to women he dates, then it's integrity.

Doesn't mean I agree with Leo's POV on the children thread by the way. This thread isn't about women but about integrity.

If the topic is so important why not add in the post the context and even the  mystery leader who speak one thing and acts another. I am tired of this covering the reputation. If this leader is such hypocrite bring him or her to the spotligth, name it. And add the link. Let us read the crowd mockery and see if make sense or not.

@Rafael Thundercat

Because the post is not meant to chastise and there is no spotlight.

People will hold themselves to the standards they do.

@The Renaissance Man

Either way it’s a simplistic embodiment that holds ground only in specific contexts and doesn’t reflect true understanding of women.

And that’s really what this is about and what I care about.

Understanding (women, anything) and helping others do the same.
